During the old days of BBC606 there seemed to be a constant flow of new posters. Some would stay, many wouldn't. On here though we seem to have a hard core of maybe 20-30 posters who are keeping this place alive. And that's it. So what's happened to the newbies? I know many people read these threads but don't feel comfortable enough to post for some reason. So if that's you, sign up and say hello cause without some new input this site will eventually die.
I tried to get my brother to sign up to the Mags board so I could have some banter with him on here but he said he prefers twitter and facebook. I think things have moved on a bit from forums, the music forum I used to run has died a death now mainly because it ended up getting over moderated. People do like a good debate, with MON doing so well there is not as much to talk about. I am trying to recruit more members, I keep telling my mates who are SAFC fans about these boards so you never know eventually they might sign up. My house mate who is a Forest fan had a look but said their board was dead.
That's a bit confrontational, brace yourself...someone is likely to call you a mag wum.[/QUOTE] Thats it! Im outta here...
There's been quite a bit on newbies on the board over the last few days, so thought I'd give a newbie perspective on it. I was reading posts on here for a couple of months before registering. I went from just reading to wanting to reply to posts so finally pulled my finger out to register. I enjoy a lot of the banter among the regulars, have learned to identify the WUMs and ignore their posts and have never felt ganged up on as a Newbie. I don't expect everyone - or anyone - to agree with me -isn't that the whole point of the board to share opinions and start discussions - preferably without some of the recent abuse Will I continue posting ? For as long as I enjoy reading and discussing threads and if Shameless keeps posting pictures of cakes
A few points the first being I do wish the readers would also post, it posters that make debate. I know that people like me who start threads all the time can look territorial, I have been accused of thinking it s my board, a ring leader and the poster of some very strange stuff. Well the problem is someone has to start threads to keep things going and often I would prefer to be a commentor rather than a starter so the more new threads the less from me, mind I will keep the drivel going. The main point to me is I would rather have a small quality board than a large poor board, I do miss some of our old timers mind.
Redanwhite (poundshoppundit) was one of the biggest posters on 606 and always good craic - anyone see him on any other boards (I met him with his yaks wool hat!!) I'm quite restricted at work on the boards because of locking down - somehow this site still hasn't managed to be caught by the filters (over a year later) so that's the main reason I use it - I loved the banter and chat between the regulars but, unfortunately, they appear to be dwindling - it'll take a lot more than any of the WUMs on here to get rid of me though
I think the bbc 606 was easier to come by. I came across it accidentally as I used the bbc website for news sport etc then discovered the forum. I'd never used forums before but after reading for a while I had to join in. I think the main problem with not606 is you have to be looking for a footy forum to find it so you miss out on the casual web surfers like me.
its because 606 was part of the bcc sport website (comments on articals ect...) and so people whould see it... not606 is only found if you google it exactly
I just read most of the time, quite a lot of threads people have said what I would have, so there's no point in 5 pages of "this"!
