Avb is getting a fair amount of press but I still think the fans genuinely want Benitez back Presumably when he fails they'll re-animate bill shankly so he can have a go
when you see they'll have a transfer budget of around £30m, was anyone else like me thinking 'that's not going to help them very much'? most of their competitors will sign one or two breathtaking players with £30m. liverpool need about 10 players!
Yeah, I think I mentioned this on another one of the various Liverpool threads. According to the BBC gossip column, Man Utd will want to sell Nani for £30m if he doesn't sign a new contract. If that's what £30m gets you, then whoever comes in isn't going to be able to hugely remodel the current squad, unless they sell first. But, the only player worth anywhere near what they paid for him is probably Suarez, to probably give a budget of £50m to build a squad around Carroll. I'm glad I'm not a Liverpool fan!
Liverpool like Villa is a poisoned chalice at the moment and the problems are huge, not helped by their inflated expectations. Both need a severe reality check.
I would say Everton are also in the poisoned chalice position because Moyes has done a brillient job!
I hope this is true too ! http://astonvilla-views.com/2012/05/16/paul-lambert-not-interested-in-the-villa-guardian-avfc/?
Lamberts odds have drifted out a lot for the Villa job while Ole Gunnar Solksjaer seems to be favourite. If you believe the bookies it sounds good. Sadly I don't and anything could happen. Still don't expect him to leave though
the odds appear to have drifted for two reasons. firstly, there are now a number of reports that lambert isn't interested in taking the villa job and secondly, villa's chief executive is currently in norway! as usual, bookies just go on who punters are betting on so it means literally nothing, but a few of the murmurs coming out from various sources are encouraging
I'm not saying because his odds have drifted he won't go. But, like you I have heard more encouraging things from our view point. Not sure they will go with Ole but he would fit the bill of young hungry manager and may want to return to the prem. Anyway time will tell.
I feel a little happier the fact that there is movement in the squad i.e. Wilbrahim and Whitbread leaving. I felt that the stagnation was not a good sign although the news of players comign in would be even better.
The fact that the chief executive is in norway probably explains why I heard solskar is favourite now.
While he's still manager at Norwich he's still got to do his job, it's not like he's going to stop if he wants the Villa job.
Can't see lambert being offered the Liverpool job, the fans would go mental they keep talking about pep and AVB. The talk was that Lambo got offered the Villa job on Tuesday, now people are saying he's not interested and he's fiddling with the squad here. I think we're safe for now, I have a suspicion he's turned it down maybe after a little chat with a certain gaffer.
I've had this suspicion a while now. I also have no doubt that the £10m to spend announcement will have played a big part of it- sounds like Lambert's entire transfer kitty for the next year including any wage increases will be between 15m and 20m!
and that'll be more than villa have to spend. even if they sold darren bent to raise funds they'd struggle to compete for transfer fees. its the wages where they are stronger than us but even then they've just cut them by 50%!
