I think overall its a nice kit but ffs just move the badges into the usual place and it's instantly very nice.
The badge on the away shirt is, for me, the best badge we've had. The adidas trefoil on the sleeves of the 3rd kit is just perfect. The guy who designed them has strong links with adidas, hopefully this is similar to what we eventually get.
I do think we could see a change of badge in the near(ish) future and likely to include the magpie. In every industry there is a drive to simplify logos etc. it makes sense from marketing and manufacturing standpoint. The magpie is also a brand image the club can use. The existing badge is a bit busy from this perspective and doesn't translate very well when trying to win over new overseas fans etc. it's obviously quite a sensitive topic with fans though depending on how you view it. I'm sure any suggestion of a change will cause a kick off with at least some of the fan base.
I've said this before and was met with a "eh" response As a fanbase in general, change is met with a scepticism. City set the trend with this, going back to a simpler design with historical roots. I would not be surprised as all if we did the same.
**** that, keep the old design. You can flash it when they call you a glory hunter "I was here when we were ****!"
Like you say it's nothing new either. Other clubs are doing it and every club has a back catalogue of badge designs over the years.
'Newcastle United have secured a new kit deal with Adidas some months ago. Now Footy Headlines can reveal that they will receive a top treatment by Adidas. The new Adidas Newcastle United kit deal are making Newcastle United an elite team. This means that the club will receive authentic home and away kits, as part of the Elite Team range. Newcastle United will join Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus, Arsenal, Flamengo, and Manchester United as Elite Teams. Newcastle United’s Adidas kit deal was also featured in the brand-new Adidas Q3 2023 Results, just above the Adidas Messi Ballon d’Or trophy. The Newcastle 2024-2025 third kit could be a very special one – Footy Headlines have heard that Newcastle’s third kit could celebrate the 1990s and the Adidas EQT era.’
