Just been reading a bit about West Ham's deal to occupy the Olympic stadium for the next 99 years (at least !)

It would seem that £272M has been spent converting the place for football next season -- BUT-- only £15M has been contributed by West Ham -- the rest of it coming from London Legacy - which basically means the rate payer. West Ham do have to pay£2.5M rent - but this is likely to be 'off set' over the next three years if Chelsea ground share whilst their ground is upgraded.

Not a bad deal. They've got a lot of 'stuff' for peanuts. As for a new ground for the Gills - it's just bubbles being blown out by Mr.Scally.

Rumours coming out from Priestfield hint that full planning permission for work on Mill Hill is be submitted in the next few weeks.

Well if not in your life time - then definitely not in mine ---- I really must stop being selfish --- I should look on the positives of (not my) life -- Gills will probably win the Champions League in the year dot.

....and, of course - I mustn't be so negative - in a week where there has been so much positivity with all things connected to the Club, it's ticketing arrangements, stewards, Policing - can't think why I'm so pessimistic !

Don't you think a winning team is the priority rather than a nice and nearly empty stadium devoid of atmosphere?

I really cannot see how we have the money to move to a new stadium. The only way is we get a rich invester who does not mind losing a few million quid on the hope one day we will make the prem.

Gio, it's going to be a joint venture with the landowner who owns several businesses around Medway. The extra revenue required for the new ground will come with the sale of part of the land for housing and the money which will be received from a new supermarket being built next to it also.

Those of you who have read my 'exploits' in the AGRS thread will know where I stand with this supermarket ; every little helps - -let's hope that we don't have to wait until they've charged enough 5 pences for plastic carrier bags before giving us any money.

Did they not build a new ASDA recently down on the lower road, can the area sustain another supermarket chain, I thought the new one had scuppered our original ideas, especially with there already being a Tesco on the top road and SavaCentre not that much further away. Also I thought Tesco were financially restrained more recently due to losses. Suppose it could leave the door open for a Morrisons/Aldi/Lidl maybe?

They possibly did but thanks to the new supermarket at the Peel Port now not going ahead it then makes it possible. Considering the population of that area I don't think is inconceivable to have another supermarket there. I myself live a far less populated area than Medway but within a 3 mile radius of my house I have a Tesco Extra, 2 Tesco Express Stores, Sainsburys superstore, Asda Superstore, a Morrisons, Waitrose and now an Aldi which is being built as we speak. If my local area can sustain that many supermarkets with a smaller population catchment, I can see there being no qualms about the 300,000+ people in Medway being able to cope with another supermarket.

Worrying, I still remember all their over zealous ambitions. It was set to fail from the off. There has been many ground models for our Chairman to learn from the good, bad and damn right ugly ideas. Personally I would not move the club but keep the ground ours, use any investments to build the BMS.

If we do move, which seems a possibility, I would just like to remind Mr Scally of his once words that he would consider safe standing (maybe, behind the goals?).

Lastly slightly straying from topic, I would like to highlight to fellow supporters, the increased great wealth being handed out in the Premier League next season, due to TV deals. If you haven't seen the new prize monies, you ought to look, it is a staggering multi million increase. How fans are not protesting about gate prices on the basis of this new revenue is beyond me, you could practically give every supporter free admission game after game.
