Who do you want apparently Michael Appleton favourite I just hope he isn't who would your choice be mine would be Dario Grady with a young manager along side him
Appleton is fine - though I have never rated Pearce, the problem is not with the manager These are some of the things that need to change: Better coaching at young levels to encourage ball retention / technique Less emphasis on winning at a very young age (coaches and parents living their lives through their kids) Emphasis on getting kids playing - you don't get better by not playing Stop this ridiculous "they are too small" mentality - how many players have been lost to our game because of that Once older, more opportunity for English born players - I'm in favour of a minimum number of English players in a match day squad in all Leagues Take the U21 tournaments seriously (Spain does!!)
I thought from what has been said that Southgate is likely to get the job being another yes man for the FA, though I would say that he did do well bringing through young players at Middlesborough, just tactically he was poor as a manager. Unfortunately there arent many managers around who i'd love to take charge, all the managers being linked with the job you could argue have been a failure at club level. To be honest I would take a gamble and put someone like Jamie Carragher or Phil Neville in charge on a short term contact and see if either them can live up to the hype. What we dont want is someone in charge for another 6 years not winning anything as we have the talent there
Before we have a chance of winning any U 21 U 23 or any other youth/young player competition you have to stop the manager of the Full England side saying you can't take A B C D E F G with you I might want to play one of them in some meaning less friendly and even if they don't I don't want them playing because I don't want the young players showing how bad the senior players are and how bad a manager I am.
Mine would definitely be Glenn Hoddle, but with the current set up regards our young players, no chance, we have to play our best young players in these, un17s, un20s, & un21s to stand any chance of winning any tournament, the current set up is unbelievable, but, thats England.
If it were up to me I'd go for Ian Holloway, Steve Clarke, or Ian Holloway in a part-time capacity. If the FA are going to treat the U21's as a part-time team then why have a full-time manager. The FA don't deserve Glenn Hoddle. They sacked him once before, and he'd be stupid to go back.
Glen hoddle, but it's not the manager as such it's the players, how the hell can you attempt to go forward with jonjo shelvey and Jordan Henderson in your team?
Whether its the right thing to go back after being sacked, and he wasn't sacked for footballing reasons, remains a debate, to me Glenn Hoddle should be right at the top in the development of our young footballers, one of the best and most skillful players for a very long time, and something we do not possess at the moment, so come on FA get your act together, in my mind they will find no one better.
Dario gradi would be great cannot see it though same as ferguson appleton would leave after a month! I think an old noy would be good graham taylor what does he do now?
