The club are saying the deal is worth £30 million p.a. for 5 years but the stadium naming rights go up until 2028.Does this mean that Emirates will sponsor the stadium for free after 2019.It seems to me that the club are putting some spin on how good the deal is

That's a handsome deal. £150m for 5 years, that would wipe most of our stadium debts out. Also bearing in mind we haven't won anything for 7 years, that's a pretty good deal.

Good deal. Ours two years back was 4 years for 80 (20 a year), which TBF was pretty good considering no top 4 but then again yours includes stadium naming rights, which ours didn't.

Indeed, I think City's 400million£ etihad deal slightly trumps it..? :/

Gazidis didn't say it was the biggest deal but one of the biggest deals. There is still a chance that City's deal with Etihad could be blocked by UEFA

Where are you seeing that about the stadium naming rights extension, that would be madness IMO. The original deal was until 2021, there's no point negotiating for that now, leave it to nearer the time, that cost us the last time. At the time the deal seemed to be a really good one but now it seems poor because thing move on, leave the stadium naming rights until nearer the time and we would get a lot more money.

"new £150 million deal which grants the airline a five-year extension to their shirt partnership with the Club until the end of the 2018/2019 season.
As part of the deal Arsenal’s home will continue to be known as Emirates Stadium up to 2028.
Emirates first signed its sponsorship agreement with Arsenal in 2004, providing the airline with naming rights to the stadium until 2021 and a shirt sponsorship that began in the 2006/07 season."

So essentially they've extended the naming rights as part of this. I wouldn't have had that. They already had the naming rights up until 2021, that's plenty. I'd have taken 30m a year for Shirt Sponsorship only and renegotiated the naming rights closer to the time.

Sold down the river on this one it looks like. Those naming rights will be worth a lot on their own, and now they're tied up for a paltry sum (less than 10m per year as the shirt deal alone is worth more than 20m) for the next 15 years.

Disappointed by this.

As i said in an earlier post, the club appear to be putting a spin on the deal to make it appear to be better than it is

It basically comes to 30 million a year. On the face of it, I don't think this is a good deal, since this comes to BOTH shirt sponsorship, AND naming rights amongst a whole other hosts of sponsorship Emirates will get. 30 million a year for all of that, sorry to say, is not the best business deal we could've got. This deal should've been in the region of 200-250 million with everything the Emirates are getting.

Frankly speaking, if UEFA doesn't block this Etihad deal, then clearly the FFP is a load of old horse manure. Then Abe and the rest of the billionaires will follow suit.

I think it means after 5 years, we begin negotiating again, with the option of both us agreeing to extend the deal or not.

If you actually think of it, I don't think Ettihad's deal is cheating, it's 400 million over 10 years, I don't see what's wrong with that? In fact one may say that's not a good deal as in 5 years time the market will be much different and sponsorship deals will be a hell of a lot more. 400 million over 10 years, basically means 200 every 5 years, I'm sure if they signed a 200 million deal over 5 years, people wouldn't be saying that's cheating.

It seems quite specific that the stadium naming rights deal is until 2028

The argument about the Etihad deal is that Etihad & Citeh are owned by the same family. The deal seems over the top for a team of Citeh's size and stature

To me it looks like they have re-used the terms of the original agreement but this time we get more money. Originally they had ~17 years stadium name rights, 5 year shirt sponsorship. This new agreement is ~17 years stadium naming rights from now and a 5 year shirt sponsorship.

So rather than looking at it as extending the rights on the stadium, it's more like a fresh deal as if they where just comming into partnership with someone - which is what would happen if we looked elsewhere.

Unless i'm missing something?

Looks like a very good deal to me.
