Plenty of good noise coming out of the club about signings. I think Brendan wants to get his squad places filled so that we have a good (and probably pretty intense as the training is ramped up to PL level) pre-season.
I don't understand why we're trying to keep Butler and we got rid of Van der Gun. VdG was easily a better player than Butler - but Butler has had Premiership experience and maybe the board and coaching staff think that this might be vital to have in the squad next year. Doesn't make a difference to me though, he's not good enough so shouldn't take a squad place in my opinion. VdG did seem to like mouthing off to the press about his problems so I guess his departure can only be a good thing! But I do agree, securing deals for Dorus and Angel are the most important signatures we can aim to get this summer!
hopefully they are offering him a fairly small contract and try to sell him on and recoup some of the lost wages over the last 2 seasons lol
simple 2 Reasons... 1.cos he's cheap and would provide cover if reqd, and if they get cover elsewhere, the Swans will not lose a fortune if they cannot loan him out. I remember hearing VDG was on a tidy sum as he joined us on a free, he would probably expect more again in the Prem. 2. Don't forget, VDG also threw his toys out of the pram in January. When he did that, his cards were marked. Don't mess with our Brendan!
Yea Butlers a tidy player. He has had his injuries last season, but if he gets a good pre-season in, he could do a good job for us. I've always had a bit of softspot for him since the 3-0 sheffield! One of the best games I have been to
I don´t think he´s good enough for the Premiership, but unless we sign someone else he can cover either wing, an area where we´re strong but have limited cover. I´d imagine it´d be a one year deal maximum?
