Just from rumours I've read, Mike appears to be considering re-designing the Newcastle Badge and disposing of the old one. I presume the merchandising rights to the badge will not be held by Newcastle United anymore and will be set up under a separate holding company of Mash Holdings PLC, so if the club is ever sold, the potential buyer will need to purchase the badges rights or forfeit a proportion of the merchandising fee to MA. http://www.themag.co.uk/2015/12/69673/ Mention of including one or two Magpies in the link above. If i was Ashley I would go with one magpie, as the old rhyme says "one for sorrow, two for joy". Absolute Travesty in my opinion.
As if the powers that be have nothing better to do, let's design a new badge. It's beyond a farce. You'd think for the likes of Blackpool, Leeds, Villa and us someone at the FA would step in and just say "hey, look, the point in owning a team is to involve the community, and build something to at the very least try and achieve the one thing that matters - to try to win every, single match. If you don't want to do that, if it appears your motives are self-serving and to the detriment of that football club, we will revoke your right to own any club." It's pretty fcking simple.
Bring in a revamp of the "fit and proper owner test", make it mandatory across 92 clubs, add some 'laws' to protect the fans interests better. Utterly impossible, of course, in terms of both EU regulation and the fact the FA/PL has no balls.
What does it matter if its changed? The current Crest has hardly brought much luck has it... Maybe it needs a revamp and modernised, like the rest of the Club.
I think the fact that the local Uni is getting involved is a positive thing. At least the club is willing to listen to outside opinion here. I think there Leeds did this a while back.
