Uncle Bob was a leading supporter of a local charity that supported mentally handicapped adults to live in sheltered communities within the community - a couple were in a village near the W_Y Dacha. I met him at a couple of local fund rasing events and he was a total gentleman and very funny with it...I know his type of comedian became very unfashionable, but for me he was a top bloke.

Lenny - Yes he was, that is why BM supported this charity. He also had another son who died of a OD in a hotel in Thailand - he had quite a tough time of it.

There was a great documentary about him a few months ago, very moving. He really was a highly intelligent and funny man with a very tough life at times.

No offence, as I know you guys are all friends, but you seem to be ruining a hell of a lot of threads by taking them off topic.

Could your off thread conversations be held elsewhere, such as the Nest?

I'm already annoyed that 606 has effectively died and wanted somewhere to keep up to date with Watford news. I don't want to have to find another new home or even stop commenting completely.

Sorry - not you LB - was referring to Bob Monkhouse.

I take your point though LB and it would be better if the "chat" stayed on the Nest. However what seems to happen is that something gets mentioned that is then picked up by others and it goes completely off topic.

Short of my modding all articles for off-topic - which just would not be practicable even if it were desireable i don't think there is a lot that can be done.

Quite often someone like yourself will post "back on topic" and then go forward but it does not stop the wandering

I even posted an Article to cover Watford News - hoping that would stay on short sharp "happenings" but even that gets to wander.

I know it is not very helpful but can you not just browse the shorter threads and particularly those recently started -most of those are on topic for the beginning until our butterfly minds wander

Slightly off topic, sorry LB..i'm sure it's frustrating. Apologies. i think the problem is that this site is more 'chat friendly' than 606, and therefore, people tend to converse like they would face to face, where conversations drift from one thing to the next. At 606, with the 3 minute thing, it was far harder to keep a conversation flowing, and because of that, people just posted relevant posts. i'll try and keep as 'on topic' as i can LB, sorry :)

I do like the Milan style kit.

For the away kit how about going back to to the Blue shirts, white shorts and blue socks that were our home kit up to 1958/59 season - we were known as 'The Blues' or 'The Brewers' back then before changing to gold and black in 1959/60.

Good point Leo. the manager thread was hi jacked by anagrams for a day or two - dont know how that happened (!) but is now back on track. Seems to work like that. Not606 is by us for us so I think the general standards will sort of emerge as we go along.

    Away kit???

    Red is good for me..........

No worries. Was having a bad day.

Sounds a good idea for someone just to post 'off topic' and then carry on.

I must admit, I had a similar opinion to LB about going off topic. there has been a few times where I have come late into a thread and had an opinion about it, but by the time I got to the bottom, it was so off topic I didn't bother posting anything. Mayvbe I should, just to try and get it back on topic ;-)

As for the kit. I have to admit, I do like the current away kit, and is the first away kit I have bought since the anniversary black (midnight blue) kit. When I worked for the club, the people in merchandising said they would always prefer a more 'toned down' kit. Because yellow is quite garish... they wanted a colour that people won't mind wearing around town on any day of the week, which won't stand out quite so much. Obviously we have had a few, like the red. I think a blue would work, and why I think black works.
