Interesting read throughout, nice personal touches. The third paragraph i'd break up to seperate the two ideas for clarity's sake. As a 90's child, my choice would either be Gascoigne or Shearer. Watching Shearer take a penalty in an England shirt was brilliant. I can't claim to have seen Gazza at his best, which I hear was the 1990 WC. At Euro 96, he was a bleach blonde, overweight alcoholic but he was still good. His ability to run at defences in the middle of the pitch puts him above anybody that has come through since. Michael Owen's goal v the Argies was a spectacular one off. What gives me some naive hope is Jack Wilshere. I think he might have a bit of Gazza magic about him, hopefully without the personal pitfalls.
