Just thought a special mention for Leon Cort in order he`s been immense since he got into the side....was our MOTM yesterday so I heard, bit of an unsung hero of late.
I see his contracts up this season deffo deserves another year IMO

I'd give him another year. We also need another experienced championship standard centre half to have alongside Morro, Taylor and Cort. I hope no-one makes us an offer we can't refuse for any of them.

Yeh Cort certainly deserves another year has certainly proved me wrong the last few weeks when I asked why everyone thought he should be ahead of Taylor.

Though yesterday I thought Kermit was MOTM for me

Chased everything down even when we had 10 / 9 men, great header to get the goal, was taken out a number of times but got back up and got on with it and was on his knees when the Full Time whistle went

I'm surprised we haven't signed him up already - to have a third choice centre-half of that quality/experience who age-wise is in his prime is just lovely.

Never know as we're going up we wont need to be shopping in TK-Max as Powell put it last summer, so could be a case of waiting to see if anything better and younger becomes available

I hop we sign him up! I see him taking over from Taylor as our main man to partner morro next season if we do not buy as he is experienced at Champ level were Taylor is not

He never looks the slightest bit troubled in defence and I'd like to see him get a couple of goals that his offensive play deserves - he's a constant threat whenever he supports the attack. <ok>

Where did you read his contract was up Mike? According to the official site he signed an 18 month contact in the Jan transfer window, so he is with us for next season as well <ok>

I think he is a good enough stopper and agree that he is a threat from set pieces.

However he is to slow and his passing and ball control is very poor.

Happy to have him as 3rd or 4th choice next season, if he starts many games next season i would be worried.

All true, which is why we got him on a free. But he has proved that he will work his contract as cover, without making trouble, and keep himself physically and mentally fit to come in when required. That counts for a lot. We have had plenty of loans oozing talent who have done nothing for us. He likes Charlton and CP likes him. On our budget that is as much as we can expect for cover.

We do need to sign a young centre back (around 20/21) who can develop to replace Cort and eventually Taylor. We all hoped it would be Mambo, but it seems that is not to be. We have good prospects in Ajayi and Osborne but they are at least another year away from the first team squad. There will be many bright youngsters let go by Premiership clubs in the summer. Maybe CP can use his many contacts to pick one up. Recruiting seems to be his strongpoint.

When CP dropped Taylor for Cort I did not agree with his decision at all but he has been completely vindicated by Cort's displays. He has freshened up the defense and been instrumental in our recovery after that wobble. Well done CP for a wise decision.

When Cort was on the bench I wasn't a fan but now he has his game head on he has improved markedly in my eyes. Where he was ponderous and slow, he is now quick to read the game and positionally sound PLUS, as ever, wins 90% of his headers cleanly.

Now (at Christmas) I don't think I would have dreamed of saying this but <yikes> the defence has improved with Cort replacing Taylor <ok> Can't help feeling that this was just an experiment by Chris but if you never 'suck it' you never see!

The only time I've felt uneasy with cort since he replaced Taylor (who is one of my fave players) was against Huddersfield in the Galpharm or whatever and he seemed to be flying everywhere, but since then he has been a rock and as much as I like Taylor Cort deserves his place

As long as he curbs his shooting tendancies then I will be happy to see him around next year.

He is obviously itching to get a goal, but I think his noggin is the best way forward!
