The mackems have a particular way of thinking, especially one that is not reasonable and based on good judgment. Agree, I don't think location should be the driving factor, but who the airport serves. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ So let's follow their logic here... Wemberly stadium? Heathrow airport? Benidorm? The Vatican city? Kingscross station? Luton airport? St pancras railway station? Stonehenge? What shall we call these then???? You'd think they'ed try and tag their name to Durham Cathedral, at least that way they'ed be able to say their a real city...
Sunderland the city, and the football club, need all the help they can get. There's very little to attract outside people there, and I assume this is seen as a cheap way to gain wider relevance. The last time I wandered through the city centre it was a collection of charity shops and not much else. That's ideal for me as I love a cheap book, but for anyone in their early 20s I can't imagine trying to have a fun day out there. The deterioration is by no means all the city's fault, but that's not the point.
Do they have any seating? If so then they do. As we know the mackems are quite happy, as the americans would say, to drop trowel and squeeze out a Cleveland Steamer anywhere they can sit.
Seems fairly pathetic on behalf of Sunderland and the folk supporting such a pathetic idea. There is a quick way to put it to bed. This is all based on the Sunderland council have a stakehold in the Airport. They do, as do Durham, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Northumberland and South Tyneside. So if Sunderland want their name added, its only right the others are added to right? So we will have Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Gateshead, North Tyneside, Northumberland and South Tyneside Airport or NSDGNTNST Airport Really catchy ****ing muppets. Lets be honest this is just the Sunderland Lib Dems playing on the stupidity of the population of Sunderland to curry some favour by picking a topic they know plays directly into their "Poorer Little Brother" psyche. When in actual fact instead of wasting time on such stupid ideas, they should be fighting tooth and nail to get investment into a run down 'city'. I assume they'll want one of ours or Durham's cathedral too seen as they don't have one, and its a requirement of being a city also. This is what happens when you win city status in a competition.
