It was inevitable but the timing seems a little off. Then again, if payment is due as per contract, it would be stupid not to make the request. While everyone has huge sympathy, no-one can turn down the income and it is presumably due. CCFC will have to bite the bullet and then claim on any insurance that is (hopefully) in force.
It's a business - unfortunately a player is just a commodity, and despite the emotional outpourings over the tragic events, it'll have to be paid. The timing seems unfortunate with the ongoing recovery etc, but the obligation is there and needs to be faced.
Just read this and was going to post on it. Between you, Sparkey and furter, you've used the two words that instantly sprang to mind, unfortunate but inevitable. I read a week or so back that Cardiff had lawyers looking at the legality of the completion of the transfer. The claim is that until all the paperwork is complete (not just submitted to the FA), the transfer isn't complete. If the tragedy had happened a couple days earlier or later there would be no question. As you say Sparkey, tragedy aside, players are commodities and legal 'ownership' will be brought into question. A hypothetical question. If sala had arrived for training on the Tuesday and broke his leg, would there be a similar claim given the timing. The timing, by the way, is unbelievable. No doubt lawyers will make a penny or two from this.
not doubting the money has 2 be paid but surely this could have been done behind closed doors>>>>>>>like wft is this doing in the press when the two people involved still haven't been recovered from thy wreckage.................PRESS HAVE NO RESPECT "SHAME ON THEM" for trying 2 make a story out of what should have been a private matter.
I'm afraid there are too many people and factions involved for this sort of stuff not to get out into the media - not saying it's right, just a fact. From what I've read the complexities of the transfer deal and "money shifting" between clubs and agents is staggering. It could even be down to Willie McKay pressurising Nantes for his 10% cut - who knows.
From what ive read his agent is a top class bellend and hopefully doesnt see a penny. I knowits all common amongst agents as to what he has said and done to both clubs and Sala but with what happened I hope all players he represents have serious thoughts about who they choose to represent them As for the money business like time stops for no one. Personally i think both clubs should comprimise and you should pay half the transfer fee and they write the rest off Other option could be you lot suing his agent as his penny pinching, diception and negligence have been a factor in the tragedy.
Unbelievably there were at least 3 agents getting a slice of the deal. All of whom probably banged their invoices (or however they extract their cash) in straight away regardless of circumstances!
Strange comparison. Nantes transferred a player, and are seeking payment. As unpleasant as that seems, what with the timing, its how contracts work......you pay on the date. Silverstein on the other hand, well he insured the towers against a terror attack for billions mere months before it was struck. Profiting from the deaths, with suggestions of inside knowledge. Again, not comparable.
Your entitled to a opinion and so am I, my claim Being it would be interesting to see what he was insured for beforehand for they may have had invested interest in the pay out ie twin fking towers I’m not gonna even mention sully and the insurance scandal there
WTF is this bloke on about? As a supposed "legal expert", doesn't he know that no money will ever change hands until all the facts are established - only then will a payment be made by CCFC and quite rightly so...... http://sport.bt.com/news/sports-law...nts-if-they-dont-pay-for-sala-S11364334836278
Business is business I'm afraid.. as much as we all feel compassion for two humans who have lost their lives, unfortunately some see one of these people as just a product. However, with that being said.. he signed for us, he IS our player, we should pay for him.
Indeed. Then put the details through the insurers and hope they don't drag their feet or try and wriggle out of the obligation.
It's not that simple. There are too many unanswered questions. In principle you're 100% right Jay, but ask the likes of Willie Mckay about principles and he'll ask you - what are they?
Stupid comment - it's not straight forward at all and I'm not blinded by emotion either. You're just making obvious comments without any knowledge other than media sources. The bit about letting the insurance company sort it out is laughable. The club under VT will honour it's debts as it has always done once the facts are established.
So what exactly are you suggesting that Nantes have done wrong? And how could they be held accountable for said wrongness?
