We all know that some of the names in the frame wont come, some we may not want to come and we may well find the odd surprise before kick off.

With Westwood and Larsson in, Wickham looking unlikly, Gibbson, Gardner and Ngog gone quiet and Oshea and Brown all but dead how are we doing.

I was bored yesterday so found myself on the SAFC site and looked at the first team squad, by how that brings home our problems.

I think Gibbson, Ngog and Gardner will sign along with Dong and to me that sorts out midfield for our workers, just need that spark now, a N'zog type.

Defence still needs some work with both Mensah and Ned gone we find our stretched defenders at breaking point. Turner and Bramble I'm OK with, Bardsley is fine and Anton is good cover, I can see him leaving. So at the very least a new FB and CB needed.

Up front Ngog gives us an option but we badly need a big signing here, someone to excite us, would a Welbeck or Sturridge on loan do it? With a new man in charge and talk of big name signings at Chelsea I hope we get a big bid in for Sturridge.

All this said I do think the powers that be are aware of whats needed and will have it sorted by kick off time.

if Ferdinand could maintain the performance level that he displayed down Bolton, he would be the first name on my team sheet! So for me, if he does decide to stay, this is 'the' make or break season for him.

Sturridge may well be available to someone, as this new fella they have seems to want Falcao to follow him.
So then they have Falcao, Torres, Drogba, Anelka, what a ****e strikeforce, they can't let Sturridge leave with that shower of **** available..

Back pages of the Journal today states that financial agreements with all 3 Man Utd players has been agreed with their advisers. Gibson very much up for it and O Shea now seems ready to make the break and take on a fresh challenge. Brown still fancies a move to the NW that keeps him in that region.

N'Gog deal has hit a snag as he was due a huge wage rise and this is the reason he is being off loaded. SAFC not prepared to match this so negotiations are under way for Liverpool to pay the difference or lower the asking price so we can bung him a wedge (my words not the Journals Lol). Connor Whickham apparently favours a move to Liverpool but interestingly enough, I heard George Courtney on Talk Sport yesterday and he seemed to think the Whickham deal was very much a goer?

N'Zog still the Number 1 target according to the Journal as well.

Personally, I'd take Welbeck over Sturridge if both where available. 15m for either would be my offer.

I'd take either Welbeck or Sturridge in a flash and if N'Zog comes too that would be half our problems sorted. If Wickham arrives as well it would be large ones all round, but I can't see that his heart's in it right now.

Further to what Cest has posted........

Hasn't made cut in today's paper, but #SAFC have held positive talks with agents of 3 #MUFC players - still loose ends to tie up that end...

Got this information from George Culkin' Twitter account. It's all over Twitter now, with various people reporting the same news. Looks as though all 3 may arrive sometime soon. Got to say that I'm not too thrilled at the idea of Wes Brown joining us.

i will be over the moon if we get the 3 from united!! even brown.
not arsed about n'gog but dont think he would be as bad as some are saying.
and would def take welbeck over sturridge if we have the chance, just think sturridge dives far to much and i hate to see that...

If these players come in quickly, then I'll be over the moon. More time together as a squad. Good start to the season. The ex manure contingent will definitely be up for the Scouse game!

Brown is debatable. Good player, massive experience, injury prone though. Gibson is a canny player who needs a move to kick start his career rather than lingering around the Man Utd bench. O'Shea is a quality defender and has experience and versatility in abundance! Would be a tremendous signing IMO

all 3 of them would be nice, gibson 1st choice, then o'shea, then brown(only because he's injury prone), all of them would walk into our starting line up imo
