I have been following City now for some sixty five years and during that time, without being an addictive collector, I have amassed a considerable number of match programmes.

When I reached my 70th birthday, I realised that if I kept them until I expire, the chances are that they would end up on a refuse site, so I would prefer that a young City supporter, under 21?, should have them as a great addition to their own fledgling collection, rather than going to one of the “professional adult collectors” who would probably just keep them with thousands of others and never see the light of day again.

The programmes date from 1951, City’s away 5th Round FA Cup game with Birmingham City. There are a few from the 1950’s (I gave most of the really old ones to the Club Shop in 1982 to raise funds in the aftermath of the collapse of the club), 1960’s and through to the early 2000’s since when I have not acquired many.
The home programmes from the First Division days are complete for each of the four seasons league and cup matches.

There are home and away programmes of City matches, several with player’s autographs. Example is Sheffield United v City in August 1958 with both teams autographs and even a ticket stub for a complimentary ticket given to me by Alan Hodgkinson, the Sheffield United and England goalkeeper at the time. Also including various newspapers and magazines relating to big events in City history like promotion to the First Division

Quite a few of matches not involving City, some Bristol Rugby programmes over the last 10 or so years, Euro 1996 programmes and a Schoolboys International between England and Wales at Ashton Gate in 1966 when Geoff Merrick was England skipper. A very poignant one page programme for the Bristol Rovers home game with City at the end of the week after the death of Harry Bamford.

To be considered, please send Private Message on this board or email to [email protected] outlining why you believe that you deserve to have this collection.

    Fair play to you

I ditched my collection some time ago due to space contraints but I had our '71 LC Semi Final one against Spurs with the Enclosure ticket stubs for 1 x Adult and 1 x Juvenile, the home programmes of the '74 FA Cup run against Leeds and Liverpool, and the Leeds away one, which was very thin )emergency issue?) due to an afternoon KO during the 3 day week.

    Good work cidered :emoticon-0137-clapp

I also ditched most of my programmes some time ago.

However for my 50th a year or two ago my colleagues at work bought me the nearest City programme to my birthday - it was City v Rovers in August 1963 - the great John Ateyo was playing for City - I was quite impressed as I work with 4 women!!

I've only got one programe as living with different women, stuff tends to get lost or don't fit in my black bags as I escape during the night.
It's England v Germany Euro 96 semi final, no idea why I've kept just that one?

But nice touch Cidered, see us Welshy's ain't bad <ok>

For all the massive games I have been to I don't think I own one football programme! I was collecting world cup tickets at one time but god knows where they are now?

Nice gesture Cidered, I would have loved to have a read through some of those first division ones..

I went to an Arsenal game at the Emirates recently - inside they had painted scanned covers of old programmes onto a wall of the concourse - one of them was our first game in Division 1 at Highbury

I should have brought my World Cup 1966 programme with me to add to your collection cidered but sadly it's still at home in Canada. A 606 thank you for your help in getting Ann and my tickets for the Wembley final and you are clearly a credit to our age group.

That's what it's all about folks.

Yes, looking forward to meeting you.
Aren't you lucky you live in Canada, red and white flag and not in Finland or Argentina!

I only moved there because their flag was in Bristol City's colours and never thought I would wave it for my team (the flag I mean).
