Having traveled to the Wolves game and witnessed the 4-0 drubbing, my attention turns to the paragraphs of your report that highlight Molineux. I had previously wrote in my own article that I felt the area of Wolverhampton had a depressing feel about it. There was only one pub available to Gills supporters and tucked slightly away once you had taken your life into your hands across that busy main road. While the atmosphere was good from the home supporters inside the ground, I felt generally some of the lower league trips I had experienced last season were more enjoyable. Over zealous stewarding and the peril of the yellow jacket brigade, while all aspects of sensibility were completely amiss when placing visiting fans in the tier below the home ones. In fact the stewards only acted once they realised the older of the travelling party ie myself and alwaysright started to get vocal about the situation. Ok, if the stewards tell our younger followers to sit down then there is not a lot we can do about that. However, when they do not apply the same rules to those in golden colours and when they allow our own to be pelted with food from above, the stewards will soon realise they have slightly more to contend with us. Yes, they did eventually do something about it but we should not have had to of protested to get to that situation. I believe the stewarding was of a poor biased standard for a supposed higher league of stadium. We moved at half time once the stewarding had become more relaxed. To which I suggest for all their stringent controls, the whole process was a pointless waste of time designed to cause the travelling supporters nothing but as much hassle as possible. Interesting to note there seemed to be complete freedom of movement against one of those much lesser stadiums in Crawley on Saturday with just short of 1,000 Gillingham supporters, I was able to walk from the pub straight into the ground without as much as a steward or coppers breath on me, in turn how many arrests were reported by Kent Police...NONE. Stadium policing of two contrasts.
