I posted this on AN Other Forum (hope you dont mind) i am not really serious about this ..... just a feeling i have !!! ..... here goes ....

    I Smell a rat !!!!

The way we sank last year from promotion contenders to play off contenders to just missing out!!

Together with this transfer situation on off signings just missing out on prem players / wages etc etc ... i tell ya i smell a rat !!!!

( i hope i'm wrong - & i'll take it all back in an instant BUT ) ... it's almost like somebody somewhere does not want us to get promoted ( YET ) or at least until after 2012-13 ... like i say i hope that i am wrong & it's just me reading it wrong !!! & i'll be cheering all the way with every other fan this season again ...but we are not exactly showing any intent to be taken seriousley about promotion !!!! & that worries me !!!

Then after a few replies ......................

hmmmm it's only a theory but ??? hmmmm ...have you ever known our club to allow players contracts to run their course like they have lately ? allowing players to leave for free !!

Also the alleged statement by the chairman " it's great when you have them by the balls !" when talking about players wages / contracts etc ... Like it's a boardroon game or something !
if you piece everything together bit by bit , it's worrying !!! like i say i hope that i am wrong !! its just a feeling i got !!!

never mind roll on the start of the season eh !!!!
Anyway if nothing else it should start a discussion eh ?

if i have broken any rule about cross posting i apologise !!!

i know what you mean only learnt about this the other day but i believe its better to go up then done cos of the parachute funds and tv rights would be easily cover the creditors plus when we get promoted ticket prices will rise. Bates has a plan of making us like Chelsea and when we are in the prem again he will sell cos he will get more than if he sold now. we are a one city club which can fill a stadium in league 1 when over teams cant do that in the prem which makes us an attractive buy cos there is a market for clubs with history and solid foundation and bates is relaying the foundation business wise

If Leeds had got promoted last season or this coming season, we have to pay a further £5m to the creditors who lost out when we went into administration. But promotion to the premiership is worth a minimum of £90m as was well pubilicised before the play-off final. On top of that there is £48m in parachute payments available spread over 4-years for clubs who are relegated.

So Any club coming down will have the cash to get them promoted straight back up, even small clubs now. It's a no brainer, promotion gets the club millions, but player contracts/wages will also be more valuable, but as long as the club is well run there should be no further problems in the future.

My problem is that due to lack of ambition and vanishing money, we should have got promotion last season. We don't stand a chance this season because the 3 teams who came down will all probably go back up. West Ham for deff, Blackpool don't pay big wages and are well run, but now have the cash earned last season, plus Charlie Adams money, plus parachute payments which means they are c£38m better off than us. Last seasons relegated sides all had financial issues, but not this year. Leicester will be another team to go close, plus Southampton have plenty of cash and it seems Gus's Brighton have more ambition than us.
