Whilst I am thrilled by what we are doing in the transfer market I do have a concern.

If I had a rich father who came to me and said "Listen son, I know that you want to be big in the music industry, writing songs and all that stuff. Well, I will help set you up. I'll pay for the best studio for you to record your songs in; I will pay for the best musicians to play on your tracks; I will hire the best producer to work with you. I will pay for the best promoters in the land to plug your tracks. What do you say?"

I would, of course be delighted. But even though I have the best of everything I still have to write the songs. If the songs are crap, then I might as well not bother.

    The point is .....

The board are like the rich daddy who wants to give us everything. Can Mark Hughes write good enough songs?

Very good point Eamon. It remains to be seen BUT given the choice who would you rather have Mark Hughes or Neal Warnock ??

Hughes will come good......exciting times ahead :)

Something about writing the works of Shakespeare. Is that why we signed Julio Cesar?

Eamon, it's not a swallow or an early Spring crocus but I do think that point at Norwich was very important (as discussed on other threads). We usually lose there and, indeed, we deserved to lose but nicked a point. An early good sign though I concede a very small one.

The team against Walsall would not have lost 5 nil to Swansea. Waslall played nice passing football (a bit like Swans last year before they learnt to score goals) and I think they came with the mentality that we were destabilised and there for the taking. We won 3 nil.

I don't hear a random bunch of notes making an unpleasant nise. I'm beginning to hear the first few notes / bars of 'Hey Jude'. (Perhaps that should be 'Hey Spark'?!!)

Well Eamon, if it didn't work out I'm sure your dad can afford to hire the best songwriters in the world as well ;)

Hughes have been given every chance to succeed. Its clearly his fault if he doesnt and I think its pretty clear we will bring in a world class manager if we sack him.

    Indeed.

Until we have a new stadium things will always be precarious as the gate receipts will remain small. Personally I'd take finishing 17th for the next 3 seasons in exchange for a new stadium rather than have 3 top ten finishes and end up staying at LR. If we wish to keep TF that's the way we need to go.

We've had this discussion. Hughes is an experienced manager and as good as any to give things a shot with the resources now being made available. There are a lot of variables in football and he may or may not succeed to deliver on the huge expectations that have built up. But either way, is there anyone we could put in charge who could guarantee success? If anyone says Warnock I'm calling the authorities.

Hughes has created a hostage to fortune for himself, particularly in replacing Green so quickly (can't see Green staying as No. 2). But he has some talented players from which to carve out a good team. The competition in the Prem this year is greater than last imo. He has a job on his hands and it's going to be fascinating, a white knuckle ride.

TF has done his bit, now the pressure is truly on MH. He has basically told to the world he needs to overhaul an entire championship winning side to do well, which is a lot more than what most other managers in the PL have available to them. This will make or break him.
