I would like to say sorry to my fellow Spurs supporters for my earlier tirades against Drogs,it lowered the tone of a good site with normally excellent football debate. Their luck annoyed me intensely last season and did so last night. However I am a sportsman and have forgotten the incident and know that teams need luck in every campaign as well as skill. I will not continue in that vein to Chelsea supporters who come onto our board. Again my apologies. Thank you.
I didn't see the game, so I can't really comment. But if they had the same amount of incredible luck that they've had against us, in recent years, and against Barca and Bayern too, then I can understand your frustration.
A penalty,an offside and keeper's error. 6 goals equalling 2 penalties,an offside and an error....yes I would say incredible good luck again.
Without wanting to detract from the kind sentiments of Thor I'd ask you to reflect on that given past encounters
No need to apologise. We're all partisan at the end of the day. I'd have been doing the same if the referee hadn't awarded Ben Arfa's penalty so no worries
I saw most of the game. And to be fair, Chelsea fully deserved the win. The facts of the game show that there was a penalty, a federici mistake, and an offside which could indicate Chelsea were lucky to those who didn't watch it. but that wasn't the case at all. they pummelled reading, who tried to put up a fight(and played quite well), but for most of the game they were completely pinned back.
Spot on Roo in case you didn't notice thor, penalties aren't lucky and they also had a keeper gift them their 2nd.
I thought this, without wishing to ignite things up again, how is a penalty lucky? If it isn't a foul and the ref gives it then that is lucky. But if it is stonewall, then that isn't lucky, its a foul and bad defending from the opposition! Cant argue with the offside though, but I dare say there will be some offside goals awarded against everyone throughout the season, including us. These things do tend to balance out somewhat.
crikey, last year it seemed like luck was constantly with you guys. i remember a spell of games, around the time you played fulham (or wigan maybe) and won 2-1 with 2 goals that were off side. regardless, in both the wigan and fulham games, I remember there was controversy. there was a couple of other games as well t the same time, which I can't remember. your luck over that period alone was just unbelievable! but hey, if you get the decisions, you get the decisions.
The offside was lucky, I was agreeing with that last night. Like you said, there will be more of them for every single team. We had a few offside goals against us too you know...
Well, I could start with the two goals that weren't that gave you 3 points at the bridge the season before last. I seem to recall a similar incident last season, too.
Your prerogative. Anyway, don't you think this has been done a millions times over? Thor wasn't talking about Bayern or Barca or Wigan, it was about us being lucky yesterday which was true for one goal. Thor said we were 'lucky' to get two pens in two games, which I dismissed as utter bollocks as a foul is a foul. He also said that Cahill's goal was lucky because their keeper was poor, try looking at Cech for Guthrie's goal. We deserved to win, outfought them in every department and probably would have scored anyway had Torres' goal been classed as offside.
I remember Chelsea's spawn vastly outweighing skill last season with offsides and handball goals and penalties which as always are refs decisions, some go for and some go against. I repeat that possession is nothing. The only statistic that matters is balls in nets and Chelsea seem to have an incredible amount of luck in that department. The penalty misses by Messi etc which just contributes to this lucky club's good fortune year on year. I say sorry to my fellow Spurs supporters District and NOT to any of Chelsea's.
Utterly confused here, you say we were lucky against Barca then say this? Talk about suiting yourself Look pal, it's football, get a grip and stop moaning, it happens every season and Spurs also get dodgy decisions. What I find astounding is the comment you've put in this thread, you've said we were lucky to get 3 of our goals last night yet didn't bother commenting on Reading's very similar 2nd goal. Very biased.
