I think it's pretty clear we're going for personnel in this position. Out of the two who would you prefer. I would prefer martinez by a long margin but not for the proposed sum being touted about. Though I really don't personally see any need for anyone in this position with coquelin and frimpong coming through would, much rather a am but like I have said before I trust the management in the transfer market.

I'm going for M'Villa. He has clearly hinted that he would like to work under a French manager (Wenger) and he is only 21 and hot property. Also he'll be cheaper too which is the main sticking point for Arsenal. Cheap=good!

But i get your point about Frimpong and Coqs. Frimpong will be out all next season and then he'll have to make a comeback which will take another year (carling cup/loans), so effectively he will be out for 2 years. Coqs won't be first choice straight away and Wenger will use him mainly as cover and a utility player. Coqs will get his chance. We need a quality bench to be honest, so getting a couple new midfielders will not hurt us at all. If our history of injuries is anything to go by, we need at least 2...

CB are you being ironic? The reason we have had the most traumatic season in years is because we got the transfer dealings so wrong last year. I am not a Wenger knocker, I want him to stay forever but he needs to up his game this year. Oh and I think M'Villa is a done deal, same with Vertonghen and Podolski.

two very different players. One is a playmaker one is midfield enforcer/defensive mid.
    I like both.

Well timings were obviously a pain but under the circumstances arteta benayoun werent bad transfers. Timings and nasri holding us to ransom set us back considerably.

I'm getting some good vibes from the Arsenal management at the moment. I just hope they get their business done and dusted before our pre-season or end of Euro's. No more eBay last 10 second moments thank you!

They may be enforcers but they are also technically very good, have a good range of passes and can press a game. Just imagine one of these guys and Song in the middle. Our midfield would be quite beastly. At last we have some proper power in the middle! Song is looking better now and with the right partner/combination of midfielders around him, he will look even better. It's all to do with the right combination. The Song/Arteta/Rosicky combo is looking decent..

That will leave one of arteta or martinez (or mvila) on the bench with.no space for coquelin. Itll also leave us with song one of mvila or martinez coquelin and frimpong.all of whom are young. With regards to creativity we will be left with just ramsey and rosicky.

That would be ideal wouldn't it? Just imagine, we would have a quality bench for a change. You think our first 11 will play every single league and cup game? There will no doubt be injuries and also bear in mind the Euros. So squad rotation is the only way we can realistically challenge for the title. By having top players like these on the bench, they can come in at any point and play as well as the first 11. No more second string players, you need quality to on and off the pitch to succeed.

+1. It's vital we get our deals done early to give the squad time to settle before we start the campaign.

No idea which of the two DMs touted I'd prefer as I know fook all about Martinez and only what I've seen on youtubeage about M'Vila. Neither are cheap options.

I swear Javi Martinez has actually been playing centre back for Bilbao recently? Which shows he's quite versatile, but to be honest I wouldn't say no to having either of them, both fantastic players. I think it'd probably be easier for us to get M'Vila though as Rennes sounds like they're not fussed about selling as long as they get the right price.
