Reports in the Sun are saying that Town are being linked with a loan move for Palace Striker Glenn Murray! Wow this would be awesome if we got him in for the final push.
Do you possibly think MM went back to enquire about Johnny Williams and Pardew's reaction was ''Nah,but you can take Murray off my hands''?
Would be good BUT i am sure it also said we would be paying 100% of his weekly wage, which makes me think this is a non starter!!
Was a touch tongue in cheek..but that said we could always give 'Lightning McQueen' a run out if needs be...
Interesting link. However with McGoldrick back, we'll be up to the four fit? Can't see Murray playing alongside Murphy. We're surely going to add someone somewhere aren't we! Was nice for Murphy/ Sears/ Bishop and Bru to all start away from home also.
Would definitely be a worthwhile addition.. and could be the guy that changes games late on to secure important 3 points (similar to Bent at Derby) and drag us over the line this season. If he had played as many games as Murph this season I would imagine he would probably be threatening the 20 goal mark as well as he looked threatening in what was a poor Reading side (earlier this season) and was scoring for fun last time he had a full season in the championship. Another caveat would be that if he was playing for us, he wouldn't be playing (and scoring) for Bournemouth et al. Would love to Jonny Williams back as first priority though. Then either of Murray or Chris Wood to give us a bit more quality in the striking options
Striker on loan is a priority I think. Murray would be a good addition but think we need more of a physical presence up front and not sure Murray is this. Can't see us paying his wages especially if he isn't a guaranteed starter.
I think we're getting to the point even if we pay Williams/ Murray someone similar their full wages and make top 6 the two play off games would pretty much pay their wages for the three months they are here even if we lost in the semi finals. I'd rather Jonny Williams than Murray as I think he'd make more an impact. I cannot see how Murray would slot into our team but he'd be a good option to have incase injuries. Interesting that young winger made the bench and Cameron Stewart did not last time out.
The point is that we can't afford to be too heavily reliant on Murphy! We need other scoring options and Murray would be ideal imo.
Completely agree JWM, we are currently very reliant on him and IMO whilst his goals have been vital this season, it's more his strength and aerial prowess that we rely on him too much. We have other strikers who could get goals but we don't really have another striker who can take the mantle of target man. That's the biggest issue for me as it's a big part of how we play. I've been very impressed by Sears since he's come in, him and Murphy have a good balance upfront. For me even in the good times Murphy and McGoldrick have never looked like a balanced forward line
As for Johnny Williams, whilst he is a great player I think we need strengthening in other areas first such as RB, upfront and on the wing. Bru, Bishop and Tabb (when not played on the wing) appear to step up to the plate, I've even noticed some urgency in Skuses's play the past couple of matches, I had to double take to check it was him on the ball!!
With all the money we have saved this past couple of years surely we can now afford to be a little more ambitious and bring in some proven quality to help us get over the line! Even if we have to pay all his wages while he is here that would be a small price to pay if he delivers the goals that we need,
Bloody hell we've got Reg Varney being linked now! http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/26843/blackburn-striker-linked
I would say that is more likely than the Murray link. Im also pretty hopeful Joniesta will be here for the budgie game.
