I see that it's being quoted in the Sunderland Echo that SAF has agreed to let Wellbeck to remain at the SOL for a second season as he's very pleased with his progress. Good news

pleased, but also a little disappointed - an extra year means that berbatov will be one year closer to retirement, owen and obertan will be gone, and welbeck will have developed another year. i can see ferguson bringing in a top quality striker (please not gyan!!), but that still leaves room for welbeck, and as he once said, "you can never have too many strikers". looks like next season could be welbeck's last in red and white stripes.

still, he has the quality to fire us into european contention, so another year only paying a small loan fee and his wages (which can't be huge) for that return is good business, and would leave us in the position to attract a quality replacement.

If we accept that Welbeck will never sign fulltime for us, is it realy an advantage taking him on for another 12 months. I accept that in the short term it gives us time to find find a replacement for Bent and I also accept that the lad is a real talent but is it detremental to the long term effect of the team that we know he will never be our player.

I cannot see anything wrong with him coming onloan for another season.

If he fires us into Europe and then heads back to Old Trafford he has done his job.

Who knows if that happens strikers with better quality than Welbeck might want to come and be part of what Brucie is doing

Has anyone ever thought to ask when Welbeck's present contract with Man U expires? Unless the lad signs
another new contract we could look to sign him permanently then.

Great news. Second best thing to be honest.. Atleast we have him for another season, few more signings and our sqaud is challenging for Europe again next season.

Futures bright, it's red and white.
