Good Morning All, With only a couple of days away from July, Matt Smith remains our one and only signing. You'll recall just a little bit further down the line this time last year Warnock almost quit due to no available funds, I wonder whether McDermott will stand up against GFH. I know GFH never promised to spend 10's of millions on players, but when we cannot compete with the likes of Bolton, something surely must be wrong. It looks like it will be slim pickings for Leeds this forthcoming season. What should be our priority if we do get some money, and in what order? I'd say (in this order) :- Striker Winger Centre mid Another winger central defender Thoughts? Looking back on yesterdays morning thread, we have spent millions of pounds in wages signing really, really awful players. Its a far way off what we were spending 15 years ago (on average 15-20m a year), and now it looks like we need to have a whip round to raise funds to buy anyone. Sources claim we are unable (today) to raise any funds. We are either awaiting clearance funds, a major investment or we just are not going to spend any money.
Morning Elland-I think one way or another, Brian Mac is going to let us know the state of things soon. I cant see him agreeing to come on board without promises of bringing at least SOME players he wants to the club, and if GFH go back on that i think he will walk. He will have other offers available. Winger for me 1st, all day. We have been crying out for an established one for ages!
My order would definitely be: winger central midfielder another winger central defender striker goalkeeper And after that its just filling the squad if we were to sign any others. The top 4 are a must for me
Morning Elland and all. The frustrating thing is the lack of information from the club. I'd say gfh are ****ing themselves, because there is only so long they can pull the wool over our eyes, they must realise the backlash if they don't come through for Maccer and us. If the worst happens and Maccer did walk, I dread to think how the season will pan out...
Morning all. Firstly, McD won't quit, just bought house in Yorkshire and moved family, he knows Leeds is a massive club and he can go far in management if he gets us up. I reckon he'll do the season as a minimum. As for players needed, I would have said we need wide boys but we already have those running the club!!!!!!!
... we need wide boys... they're already running the club...!! Heyho Billy, some much needed levity!!! Let's hope the club statement today lifts the mood even further. If not and even allowing for BMD moving to Leeds, I would put a bet not only on him walking, but Byram going, AND Lord the Smurf of Monaco and Papastan. riding back into ER to save us once again.
I think McD sees Leeds as being a long stay personally. I also think, unlike previous managers in recent seasons he isn't that pressured in getting promotion. I think he probably has a 2 year plan but thinks he'll be able to do it this season. I would say he wouldn't be sacked if we failed anyway
He could be renting out his old house though Billy. Just a thought, in case things didn't work out. Boggers what announcement?
I'll repeat my thoughts from a few days ago... Get rid of GFH and get who in.... ? If there was a multi-billionaire interested in buying Leeds he'd already be here. If there had been one interested when Bates was in charge, he would have snapped their hands off. If there was one interested in the last 6 months, we'd know about it. There isn't as it stands. I know we've had years of Bates, but ffs lets give GFH a chance. They're not Bates, they're not connected to Bates as much as there are conspiracy theories abound. They've already started to steady the ship and clear up all the cr@p left by Bates. They've stumped up £20m+ to buy the club, and have allegedly stuck another sizeable amount to steady the sh*t that that old tw@t left them with. They've lowered ticket prices, introduced half-season tickets and a new price for "young adults" all of which we've been crying out for for years. They might not have £10m to throw at the team, but hows about giving them a little bit of respect, at least for now eh? Bearing in mind there's no knight in shining billion dollar armour on the horizon, hows about getting behind GFH, BM and the team that we put out on 3rd August? As for the January transfer window just gone, I said at the time I wouldn't give Warnock feck all to spend. We weren't playing well enough, the style was terrible and Warnock was most likely going to walk at the end of the season anyway. Why would anyone in their right mind give him money to spend when he's on his way out the door anyway?
RCDM. A well reasoned thread. I think we are all a bit impatient this year for some signs of a move in the right direction. I think July will bring a start of the changes that BM needs to get the ball rolling. I would take a 2 year time scale for promotion. There are some very competitive teams in the Championship and it will take time to build a credible attempt at promotion and staying in the premier league.
Shako, you know me too well! Hows things and when you next over? Josh, Thats very true actually, everyone as you were...
I'm just joking, I think we do need to be supportive. Ranting about everything doesn't help And also, just an update on Rowe (which basically says nothing we don't already know) http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....r-leeds-united-to-follow-up-on-rowe-1-5798120
It's 10 years ago today that Marc Vivien Foe died I was posting on the old 606 then - where have all those years gone?
Nice one Shako, I might even be talked into buying you a cider (Although I'm a proper Yorkshireman and tight as fook )
Shaks, there's a comment on another thread about the recent meeting at the Crowne Plaza and that the club would be making a statement on the current situation regarding player incomings, outgoings etc.
