Morning all!! Join us when you can Elland. Transfers now looking tight, we still have August to get players in. The silence regarding bids for OUR players is deafening, and probably says a lot about our quality. We should take our squad as it stands as the lot that will guide us to the January window, when it will be a bit easier to loan out those with six months left on their contracts. Hopefully 22k plus crowds will bring in extra cash to fund a January blitz in the transfer window. Yeovil kick off in Championship for the first time in their history, expect them to be massively fired up to get a result. Millwall ideal start for them, don't be surprised if Yeovil win by three. Bullduster Fry is the final idiot that needs to go for me. He was the propaganda mouthpiece for Bates, never stood up for the fans, blundered along defending Bates at every turn whilst taking tainted money. He couldn't even run YR properly, the "radio station" posting a loss against Leeds United of £700k two years ago, which I think was creative accounting to hide money. YR simply drained money out of Leeds United, and could well have been an outlet to syphon money out of our club ... a very good reason to shut it down in a hurry. How much did Fry make??? GFH need to axe him as well. Do you agree?
Morning all. Elland p45 time.. Don't know who is Fry, Billy. Does that mean we can still get commentary on LUTV? even with YR shutting down. Any news on this rich saudi, or is this another load of bollox? I saw a lot of good things on Mon with the Leeds Utd 11, but can Maccer afford to bang the young players in so soon, we clearly have to hit the ground running, but it might be a gamble to play them now. Looking forward to the new season as I always do. I not looking for miracles and I'm not expecting promotion, but you never know.
BM would have to be a manager and a half to get promotion out of this squad. He'd have to be able to see ways to utilise the best bits of the older players and some of the youngsters and somehow create a whole far more than the sum of the parts. Can't help hoping............. but it is so unlikely. Would be a hell of an achivement, if he even got close.
I'm not cyncal about our chances this season. We have strengthened..... marginly Also, I remember a couple of years back when there was doom and gloom over signings, Grayson came out and said that he took us hanging onto Max as the most important 'signing' that summer! So at least we got Byram still! (it should of course be noted that Max then left on the final day of that window and has still not been replaced ) Morning btw
The problem Maccer has is the some what unrealistic supporters who think we can gain promotion with this squad. If the team have a bad start, some supporters may get on the teams back(this has happened many a season).
Morning all. Still think its a pitiful setup, that even with a terrific manager, we are forced yet again to write off a season before it starts. Unfortunate that gfh have done all the behind the scenes stuff properly, getting rid of bates and his fellow cowboys, scrapping a radio station costing nearly a million a year, but they have failed miserably so far to attract meaningful investment or to improve our squad since their arrival in December. It's even more annoying for supporters in their fifties like myself who can't wait forever for our revival
Morning All Just looked at your fixtures for Aug. if you are lucky you might get the customary 1-1 draw at home with the Wendies only point you're likely to get
Morning all I think it is a bit early for BMD to be risking a few of the youngsters yet. Would be good to see players like Dawson go out on a short loan, get some first team games and come back around December/January ready to have a crack at breaking into the squad. I agree with quite a few here that at the minute a good season will end with us comfortably top half, and a really good season might see us creep into the top 6. We still do need a couple of players in though BMD might be a good manager, but he's not a miracle worker! Also, I'll be getting the match thread for Brighton ready today to stick up tomorrow morning, just wanted to check I have my info right on the squad. Currently we have Byram and EHD injured and Austin suspended for this weekend right?
Fair point but personally I hope to see a couple more great eras. I certainly am not buying into the idea that the best we can look forward to at the end of July is a mid table finish. Gfh have been quite clever at lowering supporters expectations something I'm not happy about. Last couple of years aim seemed to be play off but now we're being conditioned to believe that's not even possible. How long do people think the likes of Byram and McCormack will continue to hang around if our owners show no ambition
Durham yep that sounds about right regarding available players Morning all Another point to make is the players most looking likely to break through (IMO) are Mowatt & Dawson. Unfortunatley there both CMs and we have too many of them already!
The optamist in me hopes that the ability to attract meaningful investment might swing the other way now the club is rid of Bates. The diposing of his follies and reversing of poor decisions can only help in that regard.
Yep pretty sure he is suspended and injured at the minute actually! Rudy is also suspended for his red card against.... Brighton!
Afternoon all. I'm even later than a Brown tackle, but I got here as quickly as I could!!! Heyho, so once again we head off on the turbulant journey that is a Whites season. Should be fun this year. As ever with my cup firmly at least half full, I anticipate plenty of twists & turns... with auto promotion at the end of it. If we only get into the play offs, I'll settle for that, as it represents progress. If we end up 10th or worse, that'll be failure with questions being asked all round. Put ya belts on fellas, as ever, we're in for a bumpy ride. In BMD we trust, MOT!!!
Im not as optimistic as far as league position goes this season as I have been in recent years so I hope that us fans show a certain level of patience in respect to that. Off the field though we are just progressing so much further than before and are really setting ourselves up to be in prem shortly, I have more faith in BMD as a manager than I have towards any manager we have had in years and years. I just want him to have the time to build the squad and not the pressure of having 1 season to get promoted
