    Good Morning everyone,

Transfer activity at last. Lets start with the news we were all waiting for. Tonge will sign in the next 24 hrs, on a two and a half year deal. Not sure I'd take him for that long, but its a signing we need.

We are also one of several clubs strongly chasing Bradford City's £1million-rated League Cup hero Nahki Wells as well as Dagenham and
Redbridge left-back Femi Ilesanmi. Its great picking up talent from the lower leagues, but I though we were looking for a team that will make the play offs in May?

One player who will not be returning is Jerome Thomas who was quoted as saying “It was never an option to extend really. It was just a case of going out and getting some games. He then went on to say he was 100% commited to Brom.
Promising young Zimbabwean soccer player Munyaradzi Mbanje has already started training with the Leeds United academy well ahead of starting his two-year scholarship at the English Championship side. Mbanje, touted to be the next Joel "Jubilee" Shambo, was late last year offered a two-year scholarship at Leeds United after he impressed the club's junior coaches while playing for their Under-16 side.

The talented 16-year-old Mufakose-born player was initially scheduled to start his two-year scholarship at Leeds in June this year but according to a source close to his family in the United Kingdom, the youngster is already training with the club's academy.
Mbanje is also hoping to sign his first professional contract with Leeds United during his two-year scholarship at the club.
"Munya is (already) training with the academy but lately he had some sessions with the (Leeds United) youth team.

Morning Elland. The signing of Tnge is good news, but I'd like to find out if the rumoured story of signing Dyer has any legs to it. I'll believe the Wells story when I see it. But is Wells a flash in the pan or is he a long term prospect? Will he really be able to cope with the pressure of playing in front of 25-30k week in week out? Do we really need another LB? We have White & Drury already together with Pugh & others who can do a passable job filling in. Not sure we really need another LB at the moment. As to the Zimbabwean, one for the future possibly, along with the young German lad who seemed to be all the rage, but who still isn't guaranteed a start with the development squad. Both could save us money in the future. But I'll reserve judgement for now.

Morning Boggers. Pleased too about Tonge. I'd only want Dyer on a pay and play basis. Surely Pugh will go....

Maybe a short term contract on Dyer to the end of the season to show he is injury free. On Pugh, I suspect that unless he can hold on till next season by which time I think we'll have a new Manager as Warnock may well retire, I think he will get moved on. But time will tell.

On people moving on, time we paid off Rachubka & Connolly.

What a sad state of affairs, when the highlight of this window looks like being Tongue ffs. Yes a decent addition, but on his way out, but his mate has given him a long contract. I also appreciate that January isn't a great time for picking up top players, and we also know that anyone we go for will have a price rise, because we have new arab owners, only we have poor arabs and not petrol billionaires. But come on GFH you talked big about wanting prem football because the club is needed in the top tier, and the fans deserve to be up there. Show some ambition because this is just more of the same and its depressing the hell out of all of us. WE DESERVE BETTER.

Always good to see promising kids come into TA, but lets not get carried away. 5% make it to the top and another 7% make it as far as championship level, the rest are discarded and go on to be taxi drivers/builders whilst the rest end up in lower leagues. 2 seasons ago everyone was banging on about Monty Gimpel and nobody had heard of Byram, yet Byram's broken through and shows promise, whilst Gimpel is under the radar and garbage.

GFH Wish List: get us the fook out of this league, buy back ER and TA and invest in making our academy a top place again, so that our kids can play in the same league as Blackburn, Wigan and Southampton. Our run-down set up at TA is 3 tiers down these days, when it was the envy of everyone, with a conveyor belt of talent coming through, which graced all the top prem sides, even now plenty are still at top teams. Investment, ambition will demonstrate to the fans that you mean business and in turn we will fill the ground. Catch 22 GFH

Morning Elland and all. Glad to see were being linked with the Bradford lad. The way I see it, with our apparent lack of resources the following are our only possible transfer targets
    (a) Premiership freebies that nobody else wants because we cant compete with wages or pay substantial transfer fees
    (b) Loanees either trying to resurrect careers a la hundreds we've already had or a la Thomas wanting to improve his match fitness
    (c) Young lads from the lower divisions with potential
It's not ideal but the last option is by miles the best one. We can afford them. If they go pear shaped, they can be moved on cos wages will be small as will transfer fee. If they work out, we might get a few seasons before their heads are turned. And theres a fair chance of signing them in the first place as they will see Leeds as a massive step up whereas options and b only see us as a job.
Some have suggested trying to do a Swansea and slowly build for the future. Only ways of doing that will be to grow our own academy players and sign good uns from the Lowed Divisions. Should also be keeping an eye on League of Ireland over here and similar leagues. Clubs are cash strapped. Players never on more than 12 month contracts and lots of gems to be had for peanuts

morning all, wells is one for the future maybe an impact signing for now, if tongue is the major signing we keep getting told about I will not be happy, although he will do a good job for us we need more than empty promises and this window could really prove gfh,s intentions for the club.

It will give a clue but they have until the summer in reality, as they can use the "January not a good time" excuse with at least some validity

Sorry I can't stop to chat, I must rush to the Millwall board to engage in some of the frenetic posting going on there at the moment. Will only return here if it quietens down there, not likely I know.

Oh well, another year in this League. I can see us selling our top players, signing loanees or over the hill players. FFS lets show some ******* ambition.
GFH are you Bates in disguise...

Apologies for being so bloody pessimistic.

probably realistic rather than pessimistic, Shako

Back by the way - the Millwall board was unaccountably very quiet, for once............ there had been a few posts by Leeds fans, but they were dull, so I came back here to listen to all the Millwall fans
