Flog the dross, offer better contracts to our top players and sign Adebayor permanently, offsetting the difference between his current wages and what's on offer with a large signing on fee. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...und-Emmanuel-Adebayor-Luka-Modric-deals.html? Doesn't sound particularly far fetched, but it doesn't sound like they've got any inside information, either. We've all suggested that this might happen already, so they're a little slow off the mark, to be honest. Thoughts?
All transfer speculation is dubious at best. I was wondering what people thought of the ideas suggested, leaving aside the possible accuracy (or not) of the article itself.
Yeah, the players listed are definitely on their way out and if we get 3rd I think Levy will be keen to get Adebayor permanently given that he's fitted in so well. Question for me is, should he be our highest paid player? He's not our best player but he's arguably our most important. Like Parker, he helps bring out the best in our team but I think it's vice versa too. If he hadn't gone to City he'd be an £80k player and I don't think that's grounds for paying him over the odds. I make Modric's future the first priority to sort out and then Bale will probably want a rise to a similar level and if we have money left over once everyone's happy then Adebayor can get his slice. Otherwise we should take a punt on someone else.
What I'm surprised at, is that The Fail seems to have given up knocking us, and is actually trying to suggest something vaguely positive, albeit that (as PNP hinted at) this has long since ceased to be a major topic of conversation between us Spurs fans. I agree that we shouldn't be breaking the bank to secure Ade's signature; he'll have to meet us halfway, if he wants to sign for us. I'd much rather that we spent the money on another striker, like Leandro Damiao.
Some of you may remember late last year Ade gave an interview and basically said that he was only in the game for the money. Then went on to say he was enjoying his football at Tottenham. I would hope that if he wanted to stay then Levy will somehow broker a deal with City.
Stating the bloody obvious to my mind, this "clearout" has been attempted for the last FOUR transfer windows, we know who Levy means, but nobody wants them, what makes him think they're going to go this time. Unless they're all out of contract this summer (which I don't think they are) and can be shown the door, they seem quite happy on their big fat arses on their big fat wage packets, courtesy of tosspot Comolli.
There was a report in yesterday's Evng Standard saying that Ade was very keen to,stay at Spurs and in London, where his family are settled. So, hopefully, a deal can be done. It'll be less certain if Harry goes, though!
Does it necessarily have to be an either/or situation though, HIAG? Defoe doesn't seem to complement either van der Vaart or Saha, so it's possible that he could be sold and replaced with the Brazilian, in my opinion. Another tricky transfer window coming up.
Can't ever see Dawson leaving Spurs, he isn't good enough to go on and play for a Man Utd, Barcelona or Real Madrid and just does genuinely seem to love Spurs (I know that's unlikely).
None of these would be any more than squad players at any other major club in the CL or with genuine English trophy aspirations so why should they want to go anywhere else?
now i see the Media are saying Modric won't sign a new contract until we know what harry's future is.
