Obviously, this is a real event for us. His first. Derby coming. Crisis in situ.

Does anybody know where we can see the whole thing as it happens?

I'll take a stream, nod towards something nefarious, anything.

So the Western Fail has the main points from the Press Conference for those of you that couldn't watch it...

Garry Monk has held his first Swansea City press conference, just days before the season's second South Wales derby. Join us for all the news.

3.07pm
That's everything from Garry Monk's first press conference as Swansea City boss. Just to recap in case you joined us late, these are the main points:

* On being offered the job: "I had no inkling of this coming about. I was shocked to be offered the job. I have chatted the chairman and the directors about coaching and management and they told me to always be ready."

* On Michael Laudrup: "Every manager is different. I’ve worked with many and we all know there is no right way and no wrong way. I’m not going to start talking about what he did. I’m going to focus on the team and do it the way I think is best."

* On the backroom reshuffle before Laudrup's sacking: "I want to put one thing straight. I was never asked to be Michael Laudrup’s assistant manager."

* On whether he's suitable for the job: "I know everything about the club and everything about the players. I was probably the best person to take it on in this situation."

* Confirms Chico will be involved on Saturday, and that there are no problems relating to last month's row: "Chico will be in the squad - yes. Zero problems whatsoever. We have had a fantastic relationship and we’ve had a laugh about what’s going on."

* Says he will not be playing as long as he holds the manager's position: "I’m not a player manager. You can’t prepare a team properly if you are in it. It would be nice if I have played my last game because that will mean I have done well as a manager."

* On the challenge facing him in Saturday's South Wales derby: "It’s massive. The circumstances make it even bigger but we are focused on the football now. We lost the first game at their place and they will want to do us at our place. These are the sorts of games you want to play in and be a part of."

* On staying up: "It doesn’t come much harder than having a derby first. I don’t want to talk about or think about relegation. We are in a good position and we need to push on. That’s all we’ve said this week. All I care about it Saturday, I can’t think any differently."

* On Laudrup being banned from the training ground: “That is down to the chairman, nothing to do with me. You would have to ask the chairman.”

If he is to be believed (and nothing is clear at the moment), he knew nothing about the imminent sacking.
His tone, for me, was one of wanting to take this on permanently. The language he was using about having played his last game or being the right guy for the job was indicative of someone with intent.

I hope he can get them organised for Saturday.

and why not , if he shows that he feels it's only temporary then that may reflect in further dealings with the players or the Board. good luck Garry Do yourself and the club proud.

It can happen, even to the best of us.

I turned up an hour late on the first day of my first ever job,but luckily everyone forgave and soon forgot. Although clearly I haven't!!!

Monk is now the acting coach and he'll have my full support. If he proves himself, that will continue but I make no secret of the fact that I'd prefer an experienced quality manager.

So where did all the "Monk as coach under Laudrup" noise come from.

BBC Wales reported it - Rob Griffiths I think, but I might be wrong with the name. Check the web site. Monk denied it at the press call, of course, but he's in a cushy place now, so he would do. I guess Jenkins has got his "yes man", we'll wait and see.

Monk as officially resigned as a player or player manager. He is now the manager until the foreseeing future and hope that he can become the full time manager of Swansea city the club he loves......Well i wont bet against it happening...
