Well, he's the second manager who was hailed as Leeds United's saviour to be sacked by their next club.

I think there's a vacancy at Radio Yorkshire for him along side Redfearn, Bates seems to like employing Leeds United drop outs.

I posted this on Monday's Breakfast thread, after watching Monk's post-match interview. Quite prophetic, eh?

 

I met his wife at our gym a few weeks back. They have kids similar age to mine, she was hoping they’d stick around a while for a bit of stability for them. Such is the reality of life for footballers families. I’ve never met him but his wife is really friendly and down to earth, he has good taste.

If he left leeds just for money or because he didn’t want to work under a DOF, I don’t know And couldn’t really care now. You look after yourself and your family in life. I’m not too interested in what happens to ex players and managers and he took our average team and made them better so I have no axe to grind.

They’re hardly destitute so it’s not exactly a sob story but I feel sorry for the family. Seems I have a different perspective on this sort of thing than most.

 

That’s because you know of them, a bit, while for most of us keyboard warriors he’s just a cardboard cutout. In my case I base my dislike on little more than a slightly smug face, annoying manner in press conferences, and the fact he didn’t take a distinctly average squad into the prem straight off. Internet views are often based on less even.

 

Don’t get me wrong 20, football is tribal... I get the whole with us or against us thing and Schadenfreude is part of football and i’m more than happy to join in when it suits me!

I can see what people don’t like in monk’s manner, personally I could never quite make my mind up about him on either a personal level or as a manager.

Monk never emotionally joined us. All that talking in the third person about the group pissed me off. I know it’s only a job but you have to commit and he never did imo.
