Nice animal running in the Kempton 3:20 though not sure AW is the perfect surface!

Your right stick, Embankment is a lovely animal and hopefully....;) just joking of course. All the best ol' Squire with Squire.

Not convinced he handles the polytrack then stick?

He handles it ok STH but in the past has been done for toe in the finish. Back to a mile which was the trip when he ran second at the track in eyecatching fashion. He came from a long way back that day and the winner had flown. That winner has not been seen since. The third has franked the form but I don't think that one ran its race that night, proper boilover job!
We should have gone to Haydock on Saturday but decided against it when the ground went to firm on Thursday morning, sods law it rained plenty and ended up perfect good going!
It looks like he will be close to favourite and his trainer fancies his chance quite strongly.

Now he's got his head in front hopefully he gets used to it. Shame about the way Haydock turned out but compensation may await and patience rewarded. No prices up yet, 3/1 be fair or am I way off?

That is the hope STH, started winning and now hope for the upward curve. We really do believe he is a fair bit better than his racecourse form still.
4/1 my guess, some decent stables represented.

Hope Squire goes well for you guys. 5/1 with Bet365. Will invest a little bit of the return from the last successful outing. Good luck lads.

Cheers Chan, Trainer fancies our boy a fair bit tomorrow but one being backed seriously to beat him. The yard runs one in the last, KNIGHT MUSIC 25-1, who is better than his form figures might have you believe :emoticon-0105-wink:

I must say Stick I am not sure about Michael Attwater unfortunately. He came on Attheraces at Windsor and to his credit and with honesty held his hands up in the interview in that he accepted he had got things wrong in telling the syndicate of owners that today was the day each time it had run when the horse had got beaten, I took from this that he has been over confident about the horses needs with regard track and trip before his suspicions had been tested, and as subsequently his hopes were unfounded he was now accepting, with hindsight, the blame. He also remarked how Rab Havlin had suspected that the horse would be better on turf. Something I feel was completely vindicated in that having a long stretch of turf to build his run over a trip which was clearly his minimum suited perfectly. I think the horse needs a long straight like Windsor to wind his run up rather than a horse that you can push a button on. I was also surprised to hear him talk the horse up big time on camera as the horse won a short head but he was quite happy to let everyone know there was more to come and that he was better than he has shown, again I am not sure about a trainer who speaks like that about a handicapper.

Do you know what his reasoning is for taking the horse back to the all weather?

Unless he is telling you he wants to give the horse a couple of quiet runs to take the spotlight away from a last time out winner I would be concerned as he may be repeating a past mistake hoping for a different outcome. I was also wondering if on account of his past injury he may be out again quite so soon after a reasonably hard race at Windsor.

I will watch the race and if you are backing it tomorrow I will hope it goes in again. however I don't see it making a place in that race at Kempton. Take him back to the turf however on a galloping track over a mile and pushing from a good way out and I think he definitely has another race or two in him this season.

Very valid points Bluesky and pretty astute too.

We think SQUIRE is better than his mark due to his performances on the gallops. The horses he works with are good yard sticks and point to him being a mid-eighties horse. Professor was second on Saturday off 101 and Squire works very well with him.
We cannot risk him on firm ground! There were three races in as many weeks that he could realistically run in. Haydock on Saturday was ruled out when the ground went firm on Thursday, annoyingly the weather turned it to good. Ascot on Wednesday is a 20 runner boys race with no guarantee of us getting in on bottom weight and that leaves Kempton. He hasn't run over a mile at Kempton since he ran second on only his second run for us when he was still a work in progress. Back there now over a mile should see him in a much better light. He is a Teofilio after all so the track should be ideal.
Its not always easy to find the right race but he certainly isn't looking for a quiet run. We rate him and want a couple more wins to get in some decent handicaps in a couple of months time. Galloping, testing tracks will suit him nicely. Sandown and Ascot spring to mind.
I would have loved to go to Ascot on Wednesday but when there is no guarantee of getting a run you have to go where you can. Also a twenty runner race with an apprentice on board may have been madness.
I hope you are pleasantly surprised tomorrow.

I appreciate your comments stick, and also that it's possible to speak candidly about such things without any offence being taken. I hope he goes in for you, and I will be on here holding my hands up should he do so without any problem at all.

Little double at NAAS tomorrow pays 3/1 Anthem Alexander (19.10) and Varac (20.10) should be a positive outcome.

Ok let's put some up for tomorrow

    Kempton
    4.55 Saint Honere 8-1
There are 3 horses in this race and there is little to choose from either so I have gone for this one as he is over double the price of the others with the best draw of the three. The race won by convicted in which Harley Rabel came 3rd and the selection 4th has been franked in no uncertain terms by the second coming out and winning easily. This leads me to believe that the winner will come from that race. I may not have the right one of the three but I definitely have the value of the three. (Convicted 11-4, Drawn7, Harley Rebel 7-2, D10, Saint Honere 8-1D2)

    Windsor
    7.00 Arc Lighter 9-4

This horse should have won last week but for a combination of the horse not putting his best foot forward and a less than ideal finish from the jockey (drove him left with whip instead of driving hands and heels to straighten, causing a massive drift across the course). Tomorrow he has a hood and cheekpieces which I believe will concentrate his mind a little and the jockey will be more aware this time of how to ride him. I think he will win well.

    8.00 Stolen Story 9-1 EW
Ran very well last week to finish fourth, I feel the step up in trip and some improvement for that first run back will see this horse go very close with a place being the minimum that can be expected.

    3 singles & an each-way treble

all the very best with Squire , can see your dilemma Stick, this must be common for many connections, but as we all know you got to play the hand youve been dealt.
Here.s hoping for the same outcome as two weeks ago !

Echo the comments Stick, good luck with Squire. Was on last time so may have a small play as like others have said not sure he handles the AW quite as well. Get him up to Beverley over a mile and it will be right up his street
