Monday's Meetings Chantilly(FR) Flat 10 Races 9:55a.m.-3:02p.m. Marseille(FR) Flat 8 Races 3:05-7:05p.m. Racecards At The Races Racing Post Sporting Life Stay Safe
At Chantilly I decided to focus on two maiden races. Galawi was the obvious one in some ways in his race, based on being second to Another Sky when favourite on debut. The trouble is that Galawi was 5/4 Fav last night and Another Sky was pretty disappointing last week. That run may well be good enough though but I prefer something at a bigger price. In the fillies race it is much more wide open and Fabre has a couple with a shout, along with an unexposed one from Royer-Dupre. The latter trainer has been slow to get going with just 5 runners and no winners of late. Surprisingly perhaps, Fabre has only had a couple of winners from his last 28 runners and Victor Ludorum did not look the part last week. For those reasons I went with two unraced Francis Graffard runners. His colt Wooded look good last week and the trainer is in form with 5/15 winning for a 33% strike rate currently. I have seen the trainer as consistent and largely reliable for some value against the bigger names in the training ranks so the bet was:- 11.34 Chantilly True Lolita 9/1 12.07 Chantilly Bois D'Argent 8/1 Two singles and an each-way double Bois D'Argent seems blue across oddschecker but True Lolita is mainly red. It's a shot in the dark but for a few quid I thought there might be some value after considering all the factors.
afternoon, lads! chantilly,12 50: very open stuff, but GET SHIRTY looks a viable option here.is unproven over this trip, but gets strong marks for consistency, especially last season.so,if ready to go today, should be bang there..stable in flying form too..
A lot of these races look like barrier trials with the jockeys just rowing away. Ebaiyra is one to follow over 14f+
PrĂȘtreville is unbeaten over 8f and won the G3 today in a fast time, leading all the way, drawing clear in the last furlong to win comfortably. Looks bred for specialist miler and might be worth an interest whenever he runs. 5yo and still entire
He looks a right old weapon if getting an easy lead. I thought one of the Godolphin pair would make it difficult for him, but they were god awful. He kicked nicely clear of the second horse Plumatic who gives the form a solid look. I thought Skalleti ran on very nicely when it was too late, and ran very similarly to how his trainer had suggested in pre race questioning (big horse needed race, trip short of ideal), he will be interesting over further in Group 2 and 3s. Not a bad effort giving weight away to all.
Well half a loaf they say. True Lolita was easy to back, out to 10/1 and she was always well in arrears. She did make a little headway but was never going to be involved in the finish. As ever, when you mention trainers a bit out of form up they pop and Fabre had the 1st and 3rd, with Royer-Dupre saddling the 2nd. In the next race Bois D'Argent was steadily supported in the morning and it never let up with him going all the way into 13/8 Fav. It seemed like he would run well but finish second or third in a three way go but he summoned just enough to nudge into 1st place at the line. Happy enough with the one winner at a decent price.
He was 12.0 in the morning, very impressive ride on him to get him to win despite not having the smoothest of passages into the race. Jockey knew the money was down!!
