I always like going to the last preseason friendly.


Always a nice buzz of optimism.

 

Sometimes the pre season friendlies are great. When we get crappy ones like Birmingham, Portsmouth and Sunderland like we have over the years its a waste of money

But we have seen out fair share of big sides come for pre season games since we built the new stadium. Barcelona, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Real Valladolid, Real Mallorca, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao and now Monaco have all been here

Add to that the England V Serbia and Brazil V Jamaica friendlies

 

Personally I think it is a big positive that we can attract this type of club for a pre-season friendly - however I do think they could have cut the prices even more than they have - it should need 'minimum' policing and stewarding - think they should have really focused on getting the numbers in.

 

Monaco rumoured to be signing Brazil striker Hulk for 52M

So thats Falcao and Hulk up front costing around 105M for the pair

Massively over paid there.

PSG signed Edison Cavani from Napoli for 55M last week.

Madness when you consider David Villa went for less then 5M

 

.. enough to make you turn green with envy ... oh hang on!

 

Not forgetting the winger, James Rodriguez who they signed for 38m.

I've been to both our last pre-season friendlies, against Real Madrid and Sunderland. Really enjoyed both so I think I'll go to this. Could do with watching a decent game of football, now the tennis has finished I need my sport fix.

 

I belive there may well be a little event in London currently where we are playing some antipodeans in a series entitled 'hit my sticks if you can you bloody convicts' and also a rather risque 'who can get their balls closest to the hole' tournament, somewhere north of Watford ...

 

........ not only that but the womens Euros are on as well. Watching England play reminded me of Chaventry, but France and Sweden played to a decent level. FFS, hope this pre season goes quick.
