After the horror show on Saturday it was a refreshing change to read that most of us on here sort of expected it and, have got over it very quickly. The season always throws up games like that for all teams and now it's up to MON to get the lads fired up for Sunday. Not an easy task as half of them are away on International duty but, one I expect him to be capable of.

Sure he'll be making his preparations already, and will have it sorted come the big day...

Well our last two league games have yielded nil points. Out next two league games are against the Mags and the 'Pool, this is when we will see what MoN and the team is made of. We had a very poor performance against W Brom, if SB was in charge I would reckon nil points from the next two games however I do expect some return and a bounce back with the team refreshed, e,g, does Seb need a rest? does McClean also, is Bendtner any good can Frazier make an impact.

We need to get to 41/42 points asap so MoN and the team SUnderland fans expect!

Totally agree ! I'm sure to be in the minority here when I say I hate the derby games - they're great when you win but the absolute lowest point of the season if you lose ! After 2 league defeats and an absolutely abject display against West Brom I'm not at all confident about the skunks game. In fact I'm dreading it !

After that we've got another tough game so the potential is there for a really bad run ! MON is really going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat now !

Don't think you're in that much of a minority Silksworth - I love them and hate them at the same time if that's possible. My stomach is already feeling twisted due to nerves!!!

And the other thing is, I'm driving to Coventry at 4pm on Sunday for work - and there will be 3 other people in the car - all black and whites!!! A loss would make the journey unbearable - and a win would make it SOO sweet (and Talksport would be called on speakerphone by me and told all about it!! and by them if we lose)

Personally - I wouldn't be unhappy with a draw - but surely we're due a win - if both teams defend like we did at the weekend it could be 5 all!!

MARTIN O’Neill goes into this weekend’s derby insisting that Sunderland have to approach every Premier League game with the intensity that they’re expected to show at the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday.

The anticipation among fans ahead of the fixture will grow as the week progresses and when the two teams meet, supporters on both sides will expect nothing less than total commitment.

But the Black Cats boss says that Sunderland need to approach every game with that same attitude if they are to continue the improvement they have shown so far under his leadership.

“I know people will talk about the derby coming up and how big a game it is, but I think every game is a big game,” he pointed out.

“I went into the Albion game thinking of IT as a big game. It was a game that I really wanted us to win but we just never got going.

“We have to accept we’ve been beaten in a game, beaten badly. But we have a third of a season left and a lot of points still to play for and that’s the best way for us to look at it.

“If I’m honest, we’ve got more points on the board than I thought we would at this stage of the season. Now we just have to look at adding a few more.”

O’Neill will begin plans for the derby today but with Sunderland having 13 players away on international duty, preparations are naturally going to be difficult.

“We probably won’t have a proper session until Friday when players are back, so that presents its own problems,” he said.

“Having the internationals this week isn’t particularly helpful as regards our game this weekend, but in that respect it’s probably a bit of luck for us that the game is Sunday rather than Saturday.

I'm in that minority (which isn't a minority, it's a majority, both sides....).

I do look forward to the games, don't get me wrong, but the game tears me to pieces, before , during and with our record, usually after.
