ITV gave it to Figgy but for me.. 1. Koren: did the Thudd job very well, kept things tidy, read their free-kick with the runner, passed around well, scored (or assisit..sort of) 2. Fryatt: fought all night, kept possession 3. Figueroa: did OK apart from falling over a couple of times
1 Aluko - plus he raked his studs down ince's calf and never got penalised, CLASS 2 Figgy - he made some timely challenges 3 Elmo - put in some amazing crosses, especially in the 1st half.
1) Elmo 2) Figueroa 3) Fryatt Koren and Chester very unlucky not to be in the top 3 too. Thoroughly efficient performance and a fairly comfortable win in a game we pretty much controlled from start to finish. Bring on Sunderland!
Voting as someone who was there I thought Aluko was pretty poor, nowhere near up to speed. Fryatt showed exactly why we needed Jelly and Long. Sagbo plays like someone with dementia, prone to wander. Davies. Goal and a commanding performance. Elmo. Someone queried Elmo crossing all the time. Today showed i dont think anyone else dare or wants to. Figgy. Solid with some great challenges Chezz was good too but a few aberrations.
Koren, he's such a clever ****er. Elmo, want's everything, his enthusiasm is unstoppable. Meyler, a willing fighter, and an inspiration. Apart from Brightons goal and the following 5 mins, we pissed this
Elmo Davies Fig Sagbo held some great ball up, but was too far out of place - not his doing though. Fryatt worked his socks off, but was ineffective in front of goal. Two strikers doing the work of midfielders. Koren' s brains kept him in it, not his pace (sic). Meyler started well but faded quickly. Brighton were poor first half, then came out and decided to take us on. Their fans were excellent
Meyler Elmo Fryatt Special mention for Koren who had his best performance in a while. He's also got this incredible knack of scoring **** goals Aluko underwhelms me more every time I see him play. He always looks like he's capable of delivering something amazing any minute now but never actually does. Even earlier this season when he had a run of games and stayed fit he only got 1 goal and 1 assist. It wouldn't surprise me if one day he just clicked and scored 9 in a game but at the moment he just frustrates me.
1. Livermore. Ran the midfield. 2. Koren. Didn't put a foot wrong and linked play well. 3. Chester- not much sign of rustiness and a solid performance. On a negative note, and we all like one of them; Aluko. f**king abysmal, how anyone can constantly slate Jela( yes Bobert this for you my little sweet pea) and give him MOTM is perplexing. It shows the onset of clown shoe mongness. He was utter dog **** and needs to stop trying to be too clever all the time.
Aluko was instrumental in pretty much all our decent attacking moves and it was an exceptional first touch and turn to win the free kick for the second. Would have been on the scoresheet too if not for a great last ditch block, that shot was on its way in. He was better tonight, but still rusty. He has been out a long time and played little since. He's not going to be tearing it up again til he's had a good run of games and got in to the swing of things. As good as Meylers been recently, that left wing spot has to have Alukos name pinned to it now, got to be ready to chuck back in the side after another start tonight.
Now, now let's not get carried away. If Jela had had that shot blocked you'd call him a donkey and slate him. I kept a close eye on Aluko tonight and thought he was very poor.
Aluko could be our Juan Mata, just not going to fit in a hard working midfield and we arent going to drop Jelly or Long. I'd use him as a sub for one of those two when the defence are tiring.
