All these new phones are just a lot of pish, just another way to get more money out of you. And for wit? A few apps and some fancy layouts? Pish.

I'm completely sickened with what that guy told me today on the phone.

Am more than happy with my phone. £10 a month to get free texts and use the credit on phone calls, if needed.

All these extras that people are paying for, they're not necessary. People have just grew up in this technology mad time, they feel they need all the newest and best things. Pish.

Do you ever use the 'Sorry I couldn't text - ran out of credit' excuse?

No, I'd just tell the truth.

    'Sorry I didn't text, I just couldn't be arsed'.

I just don't see the need for all these apps, or these wallopers that are constantly tweeting and facebooking on their phones. Get a ****in life.

I want a phone for making phone calls. The downside is that people phone ye on it which in general pisses me off.

    Correct.

    Correct.

I know what you mean and, at the risk of being serious for a moment, that was the very reason - as well as the numbing texts I was receiving from my sisters and mum - that I got rid of mine (dropped it in a bin, ringing) well over five years ago. I haven’t missed it at all. It felt minorly liberating, in fact. Highly recommended.

As for the Facebookers and Tweeters.....they need severely dealt with. I can't think of a suitable punishment offhand, but would happily join a think tank looking into such matters. The punishment, whatever form it may take, would need to provoke a moment of self-awareness - which would surely be enough to crush them.

The Apple badge on the back costs about £200. You can get much cheaper phones that do all the same stuff, but there are so many Jobsworths out there Iphones will always be ridiculously popular.

A mate of mine went the opposite direction to you. For years he steadfastly refused to get a mobile phone. Now he's on the iPhone and his face is barely out if in the pub. <laugh>

Gotta hand it to Apple though. They sold the world a sales pitch and they bought into it wholesale.

Well, if you see an opening and feel you can get away with it, Gambol, kill him.

I was at a wedding in April and every table had people on their phones, sending texts, presumably, or telling an anxiously waiting Facebook that they were “at a wedding”. This wedding was no more or less boring than any other wedding I’ve ever been to, but these glass-eyed, socially awkward delinquents seemed incapable of holding a conversation or resisting the urge to fall back on their technological crutch.

In summary, then: a lot of people need to die, quite urgently.

I have to admit to being a massive ipod fan. Played with other mp3 players, none seem to have the capacity or useability. I would say if you are a music fan then £170 for 160 gb capacity is hard to beat.

    Off my apple soapbox.

I'll agree with that, re the music.

That's what I'll miss when I dump the iPhone. I've also got 2 speaker docks with DAB radios (or DAB radios with speaker docks), which will be redundant.

Guess wit dafty got rid of all her CD's coz she put them all on her iPhone instead <doh>

Probably ask my niece for her iPod touch in exchange for the phone, just for the music.

Who really needs 40,000 songs though? If each song is, say, 4 minutes long, you'd have to listen to them non-stop for 3 and a half months to get through the whole lot. Madness.
