With reference to previous comments by Ponders End and typical <whistle>...may I add that I too am not a fan of Mo Farah.

When he does that thing on his head, it makes me want to throw a shot putt towards the TV screen.

He clearly performs this act of spontaneous originality on every possible occasion with absolutely no thought of lucrative personal endorsements and advertising in mind.

    He is a phoney, IMO

Now I have heard everything. So putting his hands on his head makes him a phoney. Only people who know him can make a judgement on how or what he is. I do not know him so how can I pass judgement on him? As far as I know Vol you don't know him so how can you pass judgement on him? The same thing happened with Andy Murray, people were quick to pass judgement on him because he came over a bit surly in interviews. But people who know him say nothing but good things about him. I think your argument is deeply flawed Vol.

    Dick

And to think I have just praised you on another site mate :emoticon-0111-blush

What I am saying is that his hand on head gesture is irritating, cynical, and premeditated to get him commercial endorsements IMO.

Same as Usain Bolt and his lightning gesture.

If you can run like Bolt or Farah you have the right to do whatever you like after the race(within reason). Now if you trail in last and make a silly gesture it just looks stupid!

I would normally relish this type of thread, but I must be careful not to upset the Overlords of Decency. But what I will say is this -

Mo Farah is perhaps the greatest athlete of all time. He possesses a supreme talent and beams out a smile that can light a million Olympic torches - it is no surprise that he is an advertiser's dream. He has found his 'home' in Oregon, USA, but still selflessly finds time in his busy schedule to come to England to pick up lucrative performance fees and endorsements. In short, he is Somalia's greatest ever export.

As for Andy Murray: he is a talented tit, who happens to be Scottish.

Loads of the Usual Suspects were keen to jump on the Mo bandwagon, weren't they ? From liberal muesli munching Guardian types who thought little Mohammed was "soooooo sweet" to pink faced smug toffs...come to think of it like our own Prime Minister....who only experience immigration when they need a plumber or an au pair.

PEA- while up in Edinburgh I was told by the friends that we were staying with that they had had professional dealings with Murray. They found him extremely polite and helpful. they also found this to be the case with Judy, and said they were a pleasure to deal with, and won't hear a word against them. Make of this what you will.

The problem with Andy Murray (apart from his hair, and his mum) is that he said on record he wanted "anyone but England" to win World Cup 2010. You can't have your haggis and eat it old son.

Nick, Andy was interviewed on Talksport about 18 months ago and explained his comments, it was just before the last euro's and the paper-Nazi were interviewing him and taking the proper piss about the performance of the Scotch national team.... after several comments about the only ginger haired persons at the finals being a ref he cracked and when asked about who he would be supporting and made the comment about anybody playing England when the Reporter published he ignored all his anti Scotch comments and just published Andy's comments about England's opponents...... he pointed out that his girlfriend was English and he has lived in England most of his life so why would he be anti English...!

    Just to clarify <ok>

It doesn't matter how old he was, FHB. Once a Scotch twit, always a Scotch twit.

He lives in England so that he can save petrol tokens when driving to Wimbledon.

Anti-English sentiments will not be tolerated by jingoistic and bigoted patriots.

It is written in the Magna Carta.

P.S) Most people are helpful and polite when dealing with others on a professional level. Even me.

I've Heard that view of the Andy Murray anti-English thing before, and I'm inclined to believe it. I live in Spain, and every now and then you meet some git (anywhere you go) who'll witter on about stealing Gibraltar, England only exports hooligans, English food is ****e etc etc, and at the end of the conversation asks if I'll be supporting Spain or Cyprus that night, and recieve a mouthfull along the lines of hoping Spain get stuffed. Obviously Murray needs to watch what he says in the media a bit more tan I do, but then again, he was only seventeen.
