According to the Mirror Arsenal are set to offer £10 million for Mings in January

I suppose we will have to accept that he will be off at some point and to be honest who could blame him for jumping at such a brilliant opportunity

I hope and pray that MM and ME can persuade him to stop until the end of the season. We are so close to getting promoted we can't afford to lose him at this stage

Come end of season we will all know where we are and hopefully can use that money and more for premiership players

But for a club our size that's a lot of money to turn down, it's the timing that worries me

He's only played a handful of senior games, best place for him is here to get at least 1 good season under his belt

I would imagine that any offers in January would be for half that figure. I believe the £10 million figures is the price we have put on his head which is pleasing to see us being firm with potential suitors.. both for Mings & McGoldrick in the summer

Arsenal would be a great opportunity for the lad and wouldn't begrudge him his move but can't see anyone wanting him enough in January to shell out that sort of money

Either i haven't a scooby about football, or i am dillusional. How the hell is Mings worth £10m???? Two years ago he was playing in the Evo-Stik league, and now all of a sudden he's worth £10m? Don't get me wrong, the guy has potential to be a premiership player, but he's still very raw, and still has a huge amount to learn. If he goes to ANY prem club, then he's only in it for the money. He will sit on the bench and play the odd cup game, and sub appearance.
He needs to take a leaf out of Cresswells books - who was scouted many years ago, but decided to stick around, learn his way and improve as a player before going to the prem.
None of the big boys will buy Mings, i can see him going to a lower end prem club, and possibly being loaned back to us for a season or half.
Either way, he's not good enough for the prem, or not worth anywhere near the money that is being banded around.

Exactly this. Seen him live 5 or 6 times, and he's impressed me for one half at Derby. Seen us on streams/ sky / the tv and he's generally been indifferent. My friend's a newcastle fan who accompanied me to Cardiff, and was laughing his head off at how he was the championship player of the month.

He's improving sure, but I'd bite anyones hand off for anything north of £2.5 mill in all honesty! I do not think he's anywhere near as good as many make out.

I reckon there will be a loan back clause, we have a really good left back in jonny parr. and that 10 million really could be the final piece in the jigsaw for us to get promotion.

lets be honest, we ain't going to get that much more for him next season if we get promoted!

I hope we don't sell him at any price! <ok> We are building a team not selling!

but surely you can see that 10 million will go an awful long way to strengthen the squad and help us in the long term. I agree we shouldn't give him away, but that 10 million could go towards 4 or 5 good quality replacements to propel us to the premiership, plus we can have him back for this season so we don't lose him for at least 6 months.

to me, its a no brainer @ 10 million.

I can see where you're coming from mate but Mick has built this team without spending money and my worry would be that a few big money signings could upset the dressing room!

that is a very fair point warky, and the last thing we need is big time charlies coming in, but I trust Mick in the sense of him knowing players attitudes as well as skill levels to bring the right people in.

I agree totally I'd rather keep this group of players than try to emulate the team spirit with new players....

    No new signings in January.

I wouldn't be against a couple of new additions so long as they can fit easily into our system.

    Mick knows best! <ok>

You should know Mick better than that JWM. Like he would bring anyone in that would cause problems to the dressing room. Mick is all about character first, talent last so with him in charge I'm not worried about that side of things.
I would happily see Mings sold for a decent price. Everybody is for sale and everybody is replaceable. I know that Tyrone has shown a lot of humility in the past but I get the feeling that the more that is said about him in the press that he may start getting too big for his boots. I really hope that's not the case but I can see him getting carried away with his new found fame and money.

If we can offload Mings, we could probably sign a better full back for a start and perhaps the play maker we require also. Perhaps another forward too.

    Ridiculous fee being mentioned here!

Not really when you think that we have already turned down a £3.5 Million bid!

You think £10 mill for Mings is not a ridiculous fee in the slightest!? It's absurd.

He's played 33 professional games in total, and is nowhere near out standout performer this season. Yes okay he's 21 and English, however this is nothing short of ridiculous.

The market for young English players is ridiculous I agree! Just look at the deal for Luke Shaw!

The point is he is under contract and we don't need to sell so 10 Million is a fair price.
