Sat down to watch the england game and have noticed him a couple of times. I'm really sad he left he's talented and hardworking (his tackling terrible but at least he tries) and those players are the ones you need. Then i started to wonder whether they'd ever be any chance of him returning. Man City look likely to go on another money binge and although he's played alot this year theres no garentee for a starting 11 spot next year. Maybe if he's not getting games we put a bid in in January The main thing working against this (other than wages) is the homegrown players rule. I'm not sure they'll be willing to let there talented english players go What dya reckon, good idea or am i dreaming
Not a bad idea actually (and not as farfetched as it may seem with the players they will buy), maybe we can save his career before City ruin it, we could be like a rehab centre for players who's players have been ruined by City - Barton, Ireland, Milner... Johnson
No chance he'll come back, and have always said he was a very underrated player at Newcastle, who I was gutted to see leave.
Would like him back, but no chance of it happening. Wages'll be too high. Looks a lot uglier than he did when he was here. City's turned him sour.
I'd love to see him back, along with Parker he was one of the few Toon players at the time who would bust a gut to get the ball. His end product has improved dramatically in recent years and he would walk straight into our team.
If you could somehow fit Parker, Milner, Barton, Tiote, Nolan and Ireland into the same midfield we would physically dominate everybody
He won't come back, one thing is the wages, plus I think there'd be many other teams interested if he was potentially available.
Raise money for Barton I was furious for over a year about that. It's finaly paying of but i'm still not sure it was the best disicion. Would've sold someone else and had them both if it was me in charge
I seem to remember he became unsettled and wanted to move back to London. Think the team was getting alot of criticism at the time and he felt it wasn't fair (even though he was generally exempt from it because he was working so hard for the team). So those in charge let him go rather than keep an unhappy player at the club. May be wrong but that is how i remember it.
He was probably my favourite player for a couple of seasons. One of my favoutite ever goals was his against Man U, remember the sure jubilation when it flew in.
Honestly, I think players who go to Man City are automatically putting their careers in jeopardy. The reason being is that they are being put on massive wages - sometimes wages which aren't in-line with their level of ability. Once Man City buy in new and better players (which will always happen in my opinion) these fringe players want to leave for more first team action. However, unless they are willing to take a wage cut (sometimes significant), they are severely limiting their options to the top, top teams. Even then though, these teams aren't stupid enough to just hand out huge wages without much reason, so the players put themselves in a difficult position.
