Looking forward to watching Channel 4 next Monday at 8pm. The Dispatches program has gone under cover at SD to reveal all. I for one will be hoping they show him and his business to be the immoral one we all believe it is with his dodgy practices. ( Remember when he cleaned out a business of all it's stock and then gave the 200 workers 15 mins notice he was making them all redundant )

One very nasty barsteward in my estimation without any moral fibre.

Doubt it would be on Dispatches if the conclusion was "well, all in all, we TRIED to dig some dirt, but it turns out Ashley's company are a shining beacon of cuddly morality in an otherwise cold and corporate world...."

Few years ago he was still using child labour in the Far East, wonder if that's still the case or whether it's just about the zero hours staff?

Problem with this, though, is the problem with anything - everyone with a modicum of intelligence is fully aware of the shady practices. But we are hammered by the government, the taxman, the wealthy and the cost of living - so if I need a new pair of boots to knock about on a five a side pitch, or a tracksuit to do gardening in, I know where the cheapest crap is. I say that, but I will personally never shop in SD again. I meant in terms of the populous - bear in mind NUFC fans make up a teeny-tiny portion of his customer base. Some fans may revel in the fact he has nullified NUFC and actively shop there!

We know what Ashley is, but, from the perspective of the gear sold at SD and the other stores, most people really don't care as long as they're saving money.
The shops on Tyneside do vey well, no different to anywhere else.

My youngest son bought trainers at an SD shop in Gateshead last week, decent enough Adidas pair, that would have cost him more elsewhere.
I didn't see anyone popping up from somewhere to make up the difference.

People may be pissed off with Ashley as a person, but whether they like it or not SD has made sports gear affordable to a lot more.

Aye, Ashley is a twat, but, so are many others out there.
