From what I understand, Leeds Utd will not be offering Forssell a contract. Now, I'm not actually bothered by this news, as I don't think he is the kind of player we need just now and anyway, he's been out for so long that it may have been a risk too much to bring him in, on the wages he may have been looking for. Still can't help feel the whole period has been a waste of time for the club, as it was probably unlikely we would ever have been able to pay the kind of wage he wanted, and with Becchio returning to training, did we really need another striker?
It does annoy me that we are constantly linked with players and trialists who are either strikers or midfielders, who was the last centreback we were linked with? Can we bring Robert Molenaar out of retirement?
I'd rather we didn't sign him at all. We don't need him, he's past it. We've got McCormack and Keogh doing well, sign Keogh on a permanent basis providing he keeps up this form and then when Becchio and Somma are back, we've got two 'targetmen' and a support striker in McCormack and a goal poacher in Somma. Upfront isn't our problem position, it's the midfield and defence.
Forsell isn't past it at all,he scored for Finland in the Euro qualifier against Moldova last night. Now I know Moldova aren't the greatest team, but I witnessed first hand the Ipswich defence last Saturday & Forsell would have had a hatfull in the first half which would have made the second half academic. Just because we have half decent strikers doesn't mean they can't be improved upon. All we've succeeded in doing is hand him a trial so that he can prove his fitness for more ambitious clubs to snap him up. & if he's playing & scoring for Finland surely he could have been knocking them in for us a week earlier at Portman Road. We should have known what his wage demands were before handing him a trial, otherwise what's the point?
Smoke and Mirrors mate let us fans think half decent players will be signed then dont offer a contract as he wants more than a fiver a wekk.... Bates = C*ck
So what was the point in giving him a trial if we've enough strikers already? If Michael Owen wasn't included in scum's 25 man squad & old red nose wanted him loaned out to a Championship club to keep him match fit would you not want Leeds to be in for him even with us not paying any of his wages? Or would you say we don't need him as we already have enough strikers?
I would say take him as he is a goal scorer, he is a far better player than Forssell, McCormack and Keough. The difference is Forssell is no better than any other striker at the club.
