On paper our midfield, to me, looks like the strongest in the league, and I applaud Powell's transfer policy. For me a starting four of, Green - Alonso - Hollands - Jackson, would be ideal for starting the season. I think Alonso's experience is needed in the team, we have a bunch of young and hungry lads who need a steady head around them. Given that he is, if my memory serves me correctly, a ball winning midfielder then he should in theory compliment the attacking play of Hollands and Green. Stephens is a top notch signing but given his relative inexperience should probably be used as a sub until he is ready.
I really have no idea how we'll do this- I'm guessing Stephens and Green will be the main two, then Hollands and Alonso will fight it out to partner DS. Or maybe Powell will throw a curve ball and use Stephens in a Llana role and play him on the left? Much like Racon towards the end of the season.
Racon looked lost on the left .. didn't take to being played out of position as well as Bailey did previously I think JJ looks great but he's one-paced Defensively he's what I'd want (baring him being skinned for pace) but attack-wise I'd like to see someone quicker ... at least at home anyway
Wonder if they will cash in on JJ? They have spoken about re-sale value, so don't think the board going to be scared of selling players if decent offers come in. He has 1 year left on his contract, and CP said something about not opening negotiations until he is fit...
If the rumours of us being back in for Wiggins are true, then maybe Powell is looking at playing Evina in a left-mid role? From what I've seen and heard he is a very attacking player who is not scared of running at opponents and using his pace. Just a thought.
