Just read the news that Diaby will be returning to train in the next week or so. Which begs the question, if we had to get another player in midfield such as a Diaby or buy someone in the transfer window such as M'vila, who would make way? It seems a troublesome question as Arteta and Wilshere are starting to gel and the only other possibility is to shift Cazorla out wide, the way I see it. And on a side note, aren't you glad we never got Nuri Sahin after all? Would have been a mistake IMO. <ok> Thoughts?

We most definitely dodged a bullet with Sahin. It's clear now why Arsene wanted the option to buy, because without any long term investment in him, Sahin would have been pointless, as he is clearly not adjusting to the PL and needs time. He called that one correct.

But, we do need another midfielder, maybe even two. Ramsey and Coquelin have simply not been good enough this season. I do not even count Diaby because of his injury record. So, that basically leaves us with our current midfield three and maybe Rosicky as players you can count on.

Well we need options. For some games a 442 diamond would be a good shout with Arteta, Diaby, Wilshere and Carzorla all in midfield. Or even a 451.

Diaby gives the team some much needed athletiscm.

The return of diaby to training is terrific news, hopefully he will be back on the field in a few weeks as he was brilliant for us at the start of the season. But yes i think we do still need another midfielder, i think that coquelin and frimpong can make it but they still need time and its difficult to make an impression when you are only making a few appearances here and there (mostly from the bench in coquelin's situation).

We can't rely on diaby's fitness however, i'm fine with him being at the club for as long as possible because just like what happened with rvp diaby may be able to finally put his injury worries to rest in the future and he is such a talented player that can really add another dimension to our midfield. But he is extremely injury prone so we are going to need a defensive midfielder. But if we do buy a defensive midfielder then i would still want cazorla to play in the middle, putting him out wide limits his influence and involvement in the game and while he is very tricky on the ball the defensive side to his game is not the best and i don't feel he quite has the pace to play out wide consistently.

People called me names when I said Sahin would struggle to get a start in our midfield... they said "Sahin would be the difference of CL or no CL" (hi TheBear <laugh>)
