Its obvious whats missing, someone who can spread the ball and someone who can tackle, The wings are sorted in Adomah, Anderson and Woolford. The CM's at present are just awful. Skuse the player everyone said was miles better than Elliott...... really, Really? to me he offers nothing but a good tackle and even then he goes out of his way to make that tackle leaving a hole for there attacking players to run into, He hasn't got pace, he's not a ariel threat, he cant pick a pass and overall has no skill. Pearson he is a big game player, turns up when were playing a much better team, sort of player who can score our winning goal against top of the league, but you wouldn't know he was on the pitch if we we're playing Barnsley, not consistent enough but IMO a much better all round player then Skuse Elliott its no secret that i like him and there's a reason, He gives 100% every game, He's a big presence in our box and in the opponents, Where this bad passing thing has come from is a load of crap, he isn't a creative player so he doesn't try to be, Someone had to think of something negative to say about him and everyone else jumped on board, and now we can see how much we're missing him he gets stuck and will score 5-9 goals a season when playing, when he first arrived he made a name for himself granted he hasn't played a season like that since but he has never played badly consistently and now its gone from not wanted to most wanted.... funny that Kilkenny only plays well when in a winning side, very often goes missing, moans a lot and he often hangs back rather than play in a more advanced role, IMO if we played him alongside Elliott then we can see a better player in Neil, I don't think he's the answer but he could be a temporary solution until McInnes gets someone in January (if he does anyway) The reason we concede so much yes is down to a dodgy defense but if the midfield offers no protection then it leaves our defense vulnerable and as we've seen it tends to lead to a goal. So short term answer is to play Elliott with Kilkenny/Pearson would drop Skuse all together. It goes without saying in January we need 2 Permanent signings in a RCB and a CM, Wouldn't mind seeing us go back for Davidson on St Johnstone or Buzsaky but something needs to happen or we're looking at another relegation scrap, and if that's the case this season then i don't think McInnes was the right answer, Just hope he can turn it around and become the side we was in August
The reason City concede so many goals is not its defense it is down to the inabilty of the midfield. McManus must be **** otherwise because they have conceded nine in three games. Up to McCinnes to start coaching what he has.
As much as I hope Elliott gives this strength to the midfield, you have to remember Elliott played a lot when we were ****e last year. Also the fella has had a lot of injuries recently he might not be the answer we are looking for. My fit team come January .....................Heaton........... Foster? ...New.....McManus...Cunningham Adomah....New.....New.......Woolford ..............Baldock....Davies ............ We might even have to fund this by selling Albert and replacing him with either Anderson or Kossoko who I think is still with us? I'm sorry if this pisses people of by selling Albert but to invest you need to sell at their highest point and Alberts is now. Also try and sell Stead and Pitman because come end of season they will go for nothing.
ROD I tend to agree, selling Albert may be what is required to invest in the team as a whole While some on hear will say this talk is ludicrous, what are the options, we keep hold of him, do not strengthen and then get relegated and we end up selling him for peanuts?? Apart from the relegation bit, this is exactly what we did with Maynard. I would prefer to sell Albert and bring in someone like Buzaky, as the wide midfield area is about the only area of the side we appear to have plenty of quality, maybe we need to sacrifice some of that width iot strenthen the core of the side, as we are very weak down the middle at present.
Elliott, Elliott, Elliott................fed up with people calling for Elliott now. Yes, our midfield is dire and lacking in bite and skill, but I realy don't think marvelous Marvin is the answer. He WAS an outstanding midfielder a few years back, but is now,IMO,average at best. How many games has he played this season?....and last season?. Very unlucky with long term injuries (as is the whole bloody team lately!) and it is going to be a big big test for him to get back to anything like his best. Having said that, if and when he gets back and has a couple of storming games and gets us back to some sort of form, I will be the first to hold my hand up and say I was wrong........we're all in this together afterall. Just my frustrated opinion guys.
Well hes our best centre mid and if anyone disagrees there just kidding there self we need him in the team because he is better than skuse, Pearson and morris. So yes he is the current answer!!
Shiny you're probably right...he may well be our current best midfielder. That just goes to show how below average the rest are!
Also shows the lack of depth we have in the centre of midfield. Should sell skuse and morris in the summer, and buy a young attacking midfielder and a more experienced defensive midfielder. Then perhaps we will finally see a decent team
I tend to agree with my mate Caldicot (spit) cider red, I think ole 50p shaped head has a lot of people banking on him to sort this team out. Shiny you have to remember he has a lot of injuries not been on form now for a few seasons. Are you looking through rose tinted glasses? But I will say this I have stuck by my opinion that Marv don't look up when passing has a head like a 50p you have no idea which way it's going. I don't give a flying **** if someone says I don't know what I'm talking about been watching football long enough now to get a basic grasp of it. I just think even though I would like to see him back is because I don't rate the others at the moment. But I would add this I would rather be tackled by Elliott than I would Morris just me he might not get about the pitch much now but players are still afraid of him.
He wins those headers though rod, something we're not doing, the season before last Marvin scored 8 goals his personal best, last season he picked up a injury which anyone can get. You may prefer to get tackled by Elliott but out of the 2 I would rather play againt morris, he's slow not very physical and doesn't chase after you where as Elliott does all of the above unlike morris, skuse and Pearson. The last 10 games of last season was the best ive seen skuse. That's it in his whole career 10 games in a relegation fighting side was his best, sums him up.
Come and sit in the Dolman with me, looking down on the players you will see Morris closing down on players. Not saying I'm a fan of him because I think all of our central midfield is ****e. Hence why I have been calling out for Davies to play there. Elliott would be lucky now to get a 10 game run in him let alone a season injuries would of taken their toll. If it was a single injury ops can cure, but he is getting injured all over now. Skuse needs a challenge away from City needs to be removed to a club where he is not seen as a local hero, he has ability just needs a fresh challenge. Morris only has this season so then retires. Not much money in the centre of midfield is there?
Says it all really that elliot is our best midfielder, but he is. He doesn't have the ability to pick out a pass or the skill anymore. but he has drive can score the odd goal and be a box to box player.. our midfielders ae league 1 standard
Personally I think Marv is better than Skuse - if you look back at previous posts I have been consistent in this
Afraid of Jody Morris ? Had to laugh against Burnley in the centre circle, he's got the ball and their 'Marvin Elliott' just eased into him and the silly little bu**er went ass over head. No foul was given - Morris is slow and lightweight. In today's game - rarely anyone tackles and anyway, Morris can't get there quick enough. Afraid of Morris ? - Behave. WTF was Mcinnes thinking about bringing Morris to Ashton Gate. Or was he told Morris could play CH.
Perhaps Del rates him just because you don't, does not make it correct. I don't rate Elliott as high as you do or Shiny. I also think injuries will prevent Elliott from playing a lot this season. We all have different opinion's and I have stated out of the two I would rather play against Elliott. Just because you can name one time that Morris lost out does not make your judgment correct.
All the above posts just point to one obvious solution from within our ranks; BOBBIE REID and JOE EDWARDS. One is scoring goals for fun in City under 21's and since Joe arrived on loan at Yeovil, they've become a different team to the one which lost 6 on the bounce (I think it was 6)
Liverpool haven't been afraid to use the youngsters this season and nor should we they can't develop fully without playing in the proper leagues and before some big club comes in for em before we have even played em think we need a midfield hungry for the ball and that's what the young ones are
