That promotion season was my favourite ever season for Fulham until we went and reached a European final. Even though the other two promotions were runaway successes with 100pts or so, it was Micky's promotion that I look back on with the most fondness. Thanks for posting, C58.

Indeed how times have changed. Reading bits and bobs about the U21s’ game today, one thing that struck me was how they had toddled up to Manchester the day before the match and stayed overnight in a plush hotel. Not sure about the travel arrangements in Micky Adams’ time but certainly shortly before, the players would board a ’charabang’ on the morning of the match heading for Scunthorpe and the likes. Taking their own sandwiches ! Can anyone remember who the player was that had a thing about crisps? The story went that when they stopped at a service place for a comfort break, he would dash to the shop to replenish his stock - driving Branfoot crazy.
I blame Martin Jol for the change. Phew, done it. I thought I'd try to get in first on blaming him, just for once.
