Spanish, can you read my thoughts(or just my old posts?) http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/235720-5-3-2-anyone?p=5564711#post5564711
As you know I'm not Micks biggest fan although I do think he's a good manager and that's the thing which gripes me the most, I think je could actually be a top top manager if he was more progressive and took more risks. But I would genuinely worry if he left part way through a season with the squad we have now, its really average if not poor and Mick gets a minimum performance out of players if someone else came to change the style.I'm not sure this group could step up to the plate under a different manager
The problem is having a back 3 would mean having Cbs bringing the ball out and being comfortable on the ball and that's not going to happen under Mick. I remember I'd been saying we should do it for a while and Mick played it and we looked really poor because there was so much distance between the players. You'd need it to be very fluid and Mick and fluid don't go together
Like the vast majority of Ipswich fans I have been overwhelmed by apathy and boredom! Ipswich Town is officially THE most boring football club in England
I think this is a very good point, whilst I'm sure Mick would do better if he had some money to spend this is his team, his team of hard working players with a lack of talent and he's let some far more talented players leave in favour of some donkeys. And at the end of the day the manager is the most important person in terms of the style of play. We've had teams under Royle and Jim that were built on a shoe string yet they play attractive attacking football. I definitely atm don't think Mick should leave though
Tell me about it . Football is nothing more than stats on a page if its not entertaining.I geuss we've progressed though from Keane - no style, no results Jewell - lots of style, no results Mick - no style, some decent results so next has to be style and results?
But the results aren't decent now are they! I'm not saying that Mick should go but I am saying is that Evans just has to wake up and smell the coffee or sell up! 15 Years in the same League without any realistic hope of promotion is unacceptable! No wonder the stadium is only half full most games. Last season I attended 12 Home games and 10 Away games but this season I'm just not going to bother Sorry but I have lost faith!
We needed to bring in some decent players at this level to compete with all the other promotion contenders and we have done nothing! Ok so we have brought in a couple of kids and another keeper but we have shipped out just as many players as we have brought in! Our squad size now is probably the smallest it has been for years! We are so desperate for reinforcements and yet all we can look forward to is a few Kids coming down from the premier league! Well Whoop de fcuking do! We are seriously going to struggle this year especially if McGoldrick picks up another injury!
They aren't Warky - That said, if we lose to Derby we've actually got the same points total from the first 5 games as last season which went alright. Point enclosing - judge us after 10 / 12 games. I'm not happy right now but I'm not going to panic until then
I'm not panicking Westy just being realistic in how I see things! I have never been so depressed about the future prospects of Town as I am right now! We are letting players go while other clubs are signing good quality players all around us! I would love Sam Baldock I think he would've been a very good signing but right now what Evans is saying is that we can not afford to compete on any signings! How the hell are meant to compete when we aren't investing in players?
The only thing I can think really is we're simply looking towards the next 2/3 years with FFP. A lot of clubs are spending ridiculous figures and if they don't go up............ UH OH. Blackburn spending £45,000 a week or so on Rhodes is unsustainable with them gates and their parachute payments will dry up for example. I think we have Keane/ Jewell to thank for guffing ridiculous wages/ transfer fees. I mean £1.7 mill for Priskin, £1.5 mill for Taylor, £4 mill plus for Edwards+Leadbitter etc etc etc. It's unsustainable, so Mick is having to suffer due to previous gross incompetence.
Baldock is very like McGoldrick, not a chance we could play the 2 as our strike force. Good player though.
You only have to look at the business Brighton have done this Summer to realise that we are light years behind even them! Barry Gardiner from Villa, Stockdale from Fulham, Sam Baldock and thats just for starters! Yes they have received cash from a couple of transfers but so have we! The big difference is that their owners have ambition and are prepared to invest to realise them!
