Can't agree with your take on this mikraswan we were on a slippery slope heading downwards under Michael Laudrup's leadership, the people who really care for the club could see that (including me and I liked Laudrup so have no axe to grind) but our premier league survival was under threat and there had to be a change. The home win against Fulham (our last under Laudrup) was a lucky one if all be told as the away side had several chances to take the lead in the first half but their forwards were very poor and we thankfully came good after the break. With the most insipid display at West Ham to follow the situation was starting to really concern many of us and although it was a surprise sacking in one way was also quite relieved. It was a gamble no doubt about it with Cardiff and Stoke to play next but have to say so far it has proved to be the right decision as I honestly don't think we would have played with such passion and desire to win as we did in those two matches.

I'll always be grateful to Michael for his contribution in raising the profile of the Swans and for orchestrating the fantastic win at Wembley and also for our European adventure and a wonderful night in Valencia, he certainly did very well in his first season with us. However there is no doubt that he'd lost some of his enthusiasm towards our club since then, it follows the same pattern as at his previous managerial positions whereby he can't seem to sustain enough interest to maintain the consistently high standards required. Maybe there were behind the scenes goings on that we are unaware of but my only real concern is for the continued success of my team as we know that managers will come and go and have little loyalty.

    Wow! Isn't it obvious?
Even a chimp could have guessed that I meant we'd beat Arsenal (A) and Liverpool (A), possibly getting a draw at Everton (A)....and dump Napoli out of the Europa.
All we need to achieve this is some loud mouth....somebody suggested you, I don't know if you're available (?)....to give the team talks and do the shouting and the jumping up and down on the touchline.

    Dopey?!
Somehow I think the bloke is a wee bit more intelligent than you.
Every post you write just serves up more evidence of this.
Anyone can make snide criticism from the sidelines Phillip...tragic.

Didn't Danny Graham finish in the top ten in scoring in his first season with us in the Premier , could be wrong though.

My view is that under BR we became one dimensional and relied to much on wide play. On too many occasions a run or pass into the inside channel was missed and this was a weakness in my opinion. In fact many people on here complained that we were a plan A side, with no plan B.

For me, ML did bring a change of style to BR, as you point out, and this made us more of an attacking threat with the wide men being harder to defend against...switching wings, attacking channels, mixing it up. Also, he did get us looking for the direct through ball, or cutting pass, which was ML's playing style. In fact, Pablo's ball to Routeledge against Cardiff was pure ML, not Monk or BR, just a brilliant piece of direct football.

ML added some quality to our club, just as those before did. The key going forward is to find a balance between the styles so that we keep evolving and making it difficult for sides to figure us out.

The last 2 games have been promising. However, tomorrow will be a big test for Monk and the players. Another good performance will help the club move on from a difficult couple of weeks. However, we should not be blind or ignorant to some of the changes that ML brought. His style still remains to some extent....we just need to more effectively blend it with our former styles to keep things fresh.

I can't remember but he scored 13? crucial goals which helped maintain our position in the Premier League. He was well worth the £3.5 million we paid Watford for him.

For whatever reason he went off the boil when ML turned up, although I'm not blaming ML for that with DG10 it was more of a personal issue. <ok>

I think your criticisms dai are not based on fact now are they.

Motivation or something was the problem, not his tactical plan. Maybe it was his people management that was his failure. But it's all a guess really.
