how many times have you heard players say they love a club PGF? ..You can bet your life they love money more..
So any idea where the top class centre forwards and wingers will be in the final week of the transfer window? Surely sold to other clubs ? We also have a wage structure so to get somebody here within that and also top class in the last week of the transfer window would be a tall order IMO . Laudrup made a promise to stay for certain players,I'm guessing michu is one of them, he doesn't strike me as the type of guy to stab his hero in the back . You never now but I'd say the Spanish boys are happy enough here,at least until laudrup goes
I know football is a fickle game, but I think he, the same of Laudrup will give us one more season before we can cash in on them both.
A point I made which has not really been picked up is that michu is a midfielder not a striker ! We all know he will play there but doesn't enjoy it as much and isn't half as effective! Why leave to a club that will never play you to your strengths? Michu is a little bit different to most players anyway, he is a humble guy and professional pride will play a part in any move, next season will be the time for him IMO
Why is it that smaller clubs do all their transfer business early and the big clubs do it all at the last minute?
He's still on the player profile page on the official site and I'd be very surprised if we let him go!!
Its always the case. The big clubs nearly always do business and put their feelers out before the season ends if they can and sit back and see if they can get better first, When the window is about to close and they failed to get their man they turn to clubs like us hoping that the seed they have planted will produce the effect it was meant,.....I'm hoping that they either find another player or they don't offer enough that jinx and the players concerned are not bothered with...I have always hated this time of the transfer window as you can never tell what is going on behind closed doors....
At the moment they may be but life goes on and they can be replaced .Although it's never good to loose your "best " players I'm sure there's contingencies in place if it happens.
I'll have a stab at it.... Left wing - Wakaso Mubarak - £4-6 million (scores goals from the left...got a low release clause in this region, allegedly) Attacking Midfielder - Christian Eriksson £10-12 million (linked with elite clubs but is Danish and might be tempted with the Michu funds) Back-up striker - Jermaine Defoe £6 million (QPR have nearly got him for that price - we could afford his wages in this scenario) Total = £24 million on transfers and £16 million to cover the extra wages....get Kenneth Omeruo in on loan with the change Other alternatives; Demba Ba, Jonathon Williams, Diego Capel, Pedro Leon, Esteban Granero, Victor Moses, Bafetembi Gomis.... Not saying any of this is likely or even desireable....we all are happy with the status quo....and there would be a bedding in process with any new signings.... I just think it's possible we would get stronger again if we got a good price. If they wont pay up I'm sure Michu is happy to stay, can't see it being a problem in the slightest.
Didnt ML give an interview a few weeks back where he said if teams are going to make bids for his players they need to do it sooner rather than later so he has time to fill the gaps else its not going to happen
Just as for Laudrup, I hope Michu stays for more than one season. But I also think, that the brand value in giving players first team pitch time, and sell them to bigger clubs, is what will give a club like Swansea long time pulling power. It's what will bring in players like Jonjo also in the future. Swansea is a progression club, if you're trailing behind the first team where ever you are, a Swansea shift will be like the draft wind in formula 1 that allows you to actually overtake the ones you were behind. In value, national team drafts, pitch time, the players own brand value. So personally, I think Ashe should be allowed to go to Arsenal if he so wants. Michu as I said, hope to keep him for a season more. But with the players age as mentioned, it's a good time for the shift. I think that an Ashley Williams, playing well for Arsenal, will add even more to the general conception of Swansea FC. Then of course, the club itself. It's prerogatory and it's responsibility, is to make money. A sound business conduite is another cornerstone. As such, I don't agree with the silly money some here demand. The players should be sellable, Michu at £15 million pounds. Given the end of the transfer window and Swanseas obligations to the season ahead, that might cost an extra £5 million premium if someone should ask. Next season such a premium might not be beneficial. Ashe has done his dues, and the only way to thank him for that, is to meet his expectations. Selling him for £8 to 10£ million to a club he finds interesting. If these sales went through hypothetically, I don't see the board going out and spending every dime to settle unsettled fans. The second striker becomes almost crucial, as any attacking midfielder can't be pushed up a striker as Michu can. But in the long run, making money out of the PL is an aim. Think of the Cardiff fans, they certainly enjoy their ups and downs. Right now I understand, they are on an up, Huw doesn't have the finances Tan has, and so Cardiff is now the bigger club. And many pats on the back are given in Cardiff these days on that account. But if you look at Arsenal, a string of seasons in the PL with a positive net income, has made Arsenal a club with the ability to match any rich owners bidding power if they so wished. In other words, a few seasons in the PL where Swansea is building up it's finances, will quickly lead them to a position where an owner like Mr Tan can't claim the upper financial hand. Simply because of the money that are part of the PL.
Am I the only person who believes that if Michu and Ash were sold then Michael Laudrup would be very unhappy? I do not think there's any substance to this story and it's just old rumours being regurgitated by the media.
On my phone atm so I'll merge this with Norway's when I'm at my laptop. Never/ Ash if you see this before I merge them, can you do it for me Closed.
I tend to agree Dexter. Viking you make some interesting points but I think its common knowledge that Ash would be going there as a back up/ No 3 centre half and Michu will go there and play out of position as a striker, from that point of view its not as appealing a move as some may think. Ash likes to get games and play every week, especially as he is now at the peak of his career while Michu has gone on record saying that he is happy to help out by playing up front but his preferred position is attacking mid field, it would mean him trying to push out his mate santi corzola for that role and I don't see that happening really. Money talks in football of course. I would have been quite happy to lose Ash at the start of pre-season but not now. He has also been passed th Captains armband which will also stroke his ego a little bit more . Laudrup would not be happy with these players leaving now that's for sure. I don't think it will happen either, people talk about £40m but it is now £90m for staying in the prem league so selling family silver in the last couple of weeks of the transfer window would not be something I believe we as a club would entertain regardless of what money was offered, we have a stubborn history when it comes to clubs wanting our boys and we have always been in a position of strength in these kind of deals. I think the Swans have raised the profile a load already,i think we are already known as a perfect springboard club but I also think we only sell when its absolutely right for us,i don't think that's the case right now though
