Has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season, apparently! Let's hope he doesn't play / score in our last fixture of the season Transfer Central TNC @TransferNewsCen 5m5 minutes ago OFFICIAL: Norwich defender Michael Turner has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season. Edit - Now on the Fulham website http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2015/march/12/turner-joins-on-loan?
Surely he is not allowed to play against us . Also we have £12 m worth of strikers out on loan and risking a crisis if Hoops & or Jerome get crocked. We should recall Lafferty. Letting Turner go on loan is a bit risky.
This is a fairly odd one. Earlier in the season he was our best center back. Surprised he's fallen so quickly from grace.
Fair call, but then enter Alex Neil and re-enter Seb Bassong and quite a few clean sheets. With Cuellar as back up and Ryan Bennett almost fit again and I can see the thinking.
Turner will not be allowed to play against City when Fulham play Norwich on the last day of the season, it says so on the canaries website http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/norwich-city-michael-turner-fulham-loan-2330396.aspx 'With Ryan Bennett on his way back, Bassong back in the fold and don''t forget Miquel (that player we signed from Arsenal but who Adams never used) I think we'll be ok for central defensive cover. Hpwever, I'm more interested to see who we are going to bring in on loan for the injured Grabban as it seems Rhodes could be headed for Middlesboro'
Given that he almost certainly won't play against us, he needs to keep fit and is clearly third choice behind Cuellar and Martin for that right-hand CB berth, he is probably one of the higher wage earners if the Rhodes rumour holds any water and Fulham still have to play Brentford and Middlesbrough at home, I think this sounds like a very sensible decision.
Yeah, Falcao might get a new lease of life in a different role... But yeah I agree, Turner alongside Bassong was the best partnership we had in the Prem, it seems odd that he's slipped so far. But Martin has developed as a centre back, and that's clearly Neil's preferred partner for Bassong. I guess Cuellar might be happier being a bit-part player, whilst Turner would prefer to play week in week out, whether here or elsewhere. At least we're not loaning him to Watford!
At the moment he is first option, yes, but he's principally a right-sided CB and Bennett is a left-sided CB (that's what foot they are too). If Bennett is fit and raring to go, I expect him to be ahead of Cuellar. Of course they can both play either side if necessary
Not sure what has gone wrong with him this season. He made a great start, looked shoe-in for player of the season after the first few months and then he had a couple of bad lapses of concentration against Reading when he lost his man for both goals that cost us and he's hardly played since.
I think there were a couple of earlier mistakes which people pointed out at the time, but these were swallowed up in the volume of other problems we had. Turner managed to avoid a lot of the criticism slightly unfairly aimed at Rusty, for instance. After his start to the season his form concentration definitely looked a bit off. EDIT - wasn't he dropped by adams and actually brought back in by Neil? It was shockers against Brentford and Cardiff that meant he lost his place
Maybe he had a bust up with Neil and refused to play for him?. I'll tweet it later and someone will start a thread about it in a few days. Bassong 2.
I've wondered for a while about this one. Turner had very strong views in the Pink'un when Mike Phelan left and perhaps he found it difficult to make the shift to AN. It seems that every new manager has a problem this way. I also wonder if there might be some issue with Redmond as well in that Adams had been working with him on his wing play to good effect. Only a possibility, but Redmond hasn't seemed the same player since AN arrived.
