As I've said on our board, Tina is a good Prem standard defender, great in air, tough tackler, and seriously brave as any player I've seen since the legend that is Kevin Ball (he'd run through fire doused in petrol to save a throw in would Bally!). We're a couple of years ahead of you lad in terms of development, we are looking to try and push for Europe, and maybe need defenders a bit better on the deck and with the ball than Tina, but believe me lads, he'll be cracking for you, there was a spell with Tina / Titus as CB when we were conceding less than 1 a game before his injury, he is solid.
this is exactly what i wanted to hear! i think he'd work really well alongside ryan bennett who has the footballing brain and pace. if you're going to compare him to kevin ball (i have his autograph by the way) then i'm chuffed. one word which keeps being reiterated with turner... solid. just what we need
Always undisclosed but you usually see fees floating about. I'd be happy of it's in the region of 2m with a year on his contract.
Turner was an absolute star for us, we let him go for £4m because we didn't have enough cash to pay the players wages, after our mad old chairman went round giving everyone with two legs a £20k a week wage. If we'd kept hold of him, our chances of avoiding relegation would have massively increased.
Easy fella NOBODY compares to Bally! I hope he does well for you lads, he'll get a good reception from us for sure. He USED to score goals for Hull (and 2 in his first 3 for us!), if you have a decent corner taker, he might get that back with match fitness. It took him a while after the injury, we actually thought he was finished at one point, but last few games he looked ok, the team were on the beach, but fitness wise he was strong. I'd say he's a perfect signing for anyone looking to stabilise in the league, the lad has been a good player for us, and will be for you Re Bramble, when the 2 of them had a run of games together and both were fit, we conceded 8 in 11, in the 11, we played United, Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs.
If we haven't learned to expect "surprise" when it comes to City signings, we obviously aren't ever going to learn. The real surprise will come when we all say "We should sign X" and we do!
Like others, I think this is a truly excellent piece of business. Just what we need at the present time. A useful amount of PL experience and great character -- Michael Nelson Mark II.
You beat me to that!! I was just going to say that I saw him play a couple of times for Hull and once for Sunderland and he always reminded me of Nelson but with a quicker football brain and a shorter turning circle. Very useful at set pieces. Having been a bit of a grumpy 1950 over the signing of Snodgrass I am now a lot happier 1950!!!
Looks like a good signing and worth bearing in mind the thread that supers started a few days ago - http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/158107-Patience Quite a few on here and especially on the Pinkun were becoming very impatient!!!
Just spoke to a friend of mine who is an avid Brentford fan and he really rated turner said he was a good leader for them obviously a different class but first thing he said was put him with Ayala or Bennett so really chuffed. Does this mean that hughton sees Russy as a right back for us next year then?
JR, i have just been on the pink un (stuppid me ) and 75% of the comments about michael turner are negative and generally that he is not good enough, it's cringeworthy really.
i have never read the pinkun and i'm not about to start now... i imagine its a bit like canary call - something else i've religiously avoided all my life
I'm sure it's frequented by the same muppets as REGULARLY phone 'Canary Call' and moan whether we win, lose or draw!!!! Haven't been to CR in years and listen to Chris's commentary on Radio Norfolk on their transistor!!!! I trust CH to get in the right players to 'give tha lads a hand' in the words of our previous manager!!
