I know it's just a twitter rumour at the mo but Michael Owen appears to have turned down stoke and might be on his way here. If have him but some say 'lost pace and brittle'. Thoughts?

I would fear another Robbie Fowler saga. I'm not sure he could survive in the championship, but if he wanted to try his luck on a pay when he plays deal, I guess that would be ok.

Not for me. There's enough money going Craig's way, we can't afford the hefty wage he would want. Heider, Etien and Mason, not to mention Earnie. Where would he fit in?

He's stated that he doesn't want to play outside of the premiere and that he would rather retire , that was a couple of months ago so not too sure that would have changed , also he's more interested in racing his horses then football

According to Talk Sport it was Stoke that turned down Owen because of excessive salary demands. Either way we don't need him.

I hope this is a rumour without any foundation. Don't want a repeat of the Fowler saga.

On a pay as you play, I'd say why not. But, on the whole, no thanks.

He'd probably also say no thanks <ok>

I'll add my lack of enthusiasm about this rumour to the growing list.
No doubting his ability on his day but too brittle these days so not for me...even on a pay as you play basis.

    Does he ever win?????

Don't want or need him. CCFC listed 5 players who play upfront add to those Rudy and Jarvis. Also, i don't think he would fit in with Malky's playing style as he is little more than a predator who can easily give he ball away.

He would want big dosh as well. No thanks.

That's a pretty strong consensus. I'd take him on a pay/play deal but I don't think for a moment that he would do that. Am I not right in saying, however, that despite not getting regular football his goal ratio is good?

The Michael Owen who played for Liverpool, I'd bite your hand off.

The Michael Owen who played for Man U. I'll have to bite my tongue.

Hasn't had too much football in recent years so for me it's a resounding no. Plagued by injuries and wage demands would not reflect a good return on the playing side.

Also wouldn't move from Cheshire where his horses are kept so would be a commuter player like Blobby Fowlup. Has he got a chopper of his own too?

Would be lousy for team spirit and not in tune with Malky's philosophy.
