Good Morning United fans, I would like to talk about our midfield maestro Michael Carrick, he's one of the most underrated players in europe, i know he doesn't score alot of goals but he can pick out a pass from 40 yards and does well to protect the defence.I don't know why he gets alot of stick from our fans, i'm a fan of his and i'm glad he's doing well this season, he's got to be one of the manager's best signings because we needed a midfielder because Roy Keane left the club the year before, and also people were writing us off and they were saying that Chelsea were going to dominate the premier league for the next 10 years but since he's been with us we've won 4 premier league titles, 1 champions league trophy, 2 carling cups, 1 world club cup championship and we've reached the last 3 champions league finals out of 4 and that's a record most clubs in europe would like to see. In my opinion he should be in the England squad because he's better than Gareth Barry and he would improve their midfield, the thing that annoys me is Fabio Capello took him to the world cup 2 years ago and hardly played him, i mean what was the point in that, if his former West Ham manager Harry Redknapp is the next England manager i'm sure he'll be in the squad. I've always backed Michael Carrick, and i'm glad he's with us because if he was playing for one of our rivals i would want us to sign him because he is a top quality player. Why doesn't he get the credit he deserves ?
I do feel his passing can be very good. However against teams who run at him or pass around him he can look flat footed. My TV in two CL finals almost got busted because of him.
Carrick is a underrated player by both United and opposition fans. When you have players like Xavi and Alonso praising Carrick, then you know how good some of his fellow professionals rate him.
Exactly, he did score an important goal in the 08/09 season when we beat wigan 2-1 away, which people tend to forget.
I am not a big fan of him. He does a good job and is a great passer of the ball. However with Fergies attitude towards berbatov and the fact he is looking to inject a more countering speed play of old, Carrick does not fit into that role. While good at passing it is alot of the time too slow, I think we need to become manchester united again and fill the centre with game winners not little mice
Said it before, he should be playing further forward and not as a holding midfielder. Barring Scholes he is the best passer of the ball we have at the club. He needs a Keane type along side him.
Good player, but I just think he seems a bit docile. When he gets the opportunity to step up, he steps back.
carrick and fletcher were a good combination IMO, carrick had the range of passing and wasnt worried about playing right in front of the defence. fletch was a serious hard-worker, great tackler and wracked up some nice goals and assists for us. they werent world class, but very few CM pairings are IMO and as long as we had world class defenders (vidic, rio), wingers (ronaldo), and strikers (rooney, tevez) it wasnt a problem. unfortunately those days are gone, and few of our players could genuinely be described as world class these days, which exposes any midfield partnership we create as imperfect (as they always will be). i also feel any team with hernandez in it will have to work twice as hard, because he simply wont do it himself.
